Guns don't kill people, books do (....apparently as they are being banned left and right from schools all over the country).

Books don’t kill people, vaccines do, or maybe the absence of vaccines, I’m not sure.  One of those.

Kind of cold for cracking the hydrant.  Hopefully, you aren't trying to find it while your shop is in fire.

It went poo poo. When 2 of 3 disk are missing in a RAID 5 you are f#*ked. No backups or disaster recovery plans. It was only their file server and DC. :)

We actually had a raid slowly die, kept replacing drives until, one day not long after, multiples failed and our backups failed from the drive issues and we lost a week of data.  Doesn't sound bad but that's really bad for business.  Thankfully it was mostly a data warehouse and the data was replicated, although there was some transactional data in there that was gone forever.

Never seen that happen at work in my 35 years of working in labs.

Update on Cast Iron replacement or as @kl8ton called it "Paying a lot of money for a project that you can't tell we did after completion - how I do it"

This happened late this afternoon. @Ozzie_Isaac - you'll be glad know I have more opportunities to practice drywall repair now.

First of two new Delta 17 MultiChoice Shower valves and trim kit to be installed. The second trim kit did not arrive with the second valve. The cartridge comes with the trim kit so the other valve will need to be installed at a later unknown date.

Small handle is for water temperature and can be left at the desired temp when the large handle for water pressure is shut off.

The old LaToscana trim kit looked like this:

Replaced because this was an Italian manufacturer that had plastic handles connected to brass valve stems. The plastic wears and the valve cannot be turned off. Plus no one carries the cartridges locally.

    Nasty day here.

48 degrees.  Snow melting at a ferocious pace.

Haven't seen the bill yet but I found a guy willing to poke around my septic and drain field - a second opinion so to speak.  He found a clog, replaced with pvc. Few hours and an excavator.  A bandaid for know.  I'll take it.

This is the fenced yard we let the dogs out into.  Blugh.

I really like these integrated valve units.  Reduces the number of holes punched in the wall.

That septic situation sucks.  Sorry you are having to deal with that.  Reminds me I need to get mine inspected.

Still trying to get my BBQ sorted.  They have successfully made a few of the holes too large, then too small with their fix. So hoping third time is a charm.  Masons apparently are not familiar with a tape measure.

not sure on this particular shower valve but on these multi handle units the pressure is fully on or fully off. dont try and save water by putting it half way like some of the older generation will do or you will be replacing the valve and or seals quicker

Put shelves in at the shop.  Sprayed the inside of the cabinets with some leftover paint.  Minimum quality standards as dictated by the female unit do not exist at the shop.

putting the shelves back in the camp bathroom closet this weekend....they dont look like that, ill take a pic

Hahaha....I grabbed that stuff, it's like gold!  It's in my home fridge.

There's really just one friend that works regularly in my shop - Dave, the Canadian that does the art.  I don't want it to disappear on me....

actually surprised he didnt go further, nobody likes the maine wardens. few years ago the wardens were playing with a hover craft out there, nearly killed a few busting up the ice with it. their cable show series was ended because they were intentionally setting people up for tickets and jail time

Well that does not paint a very positive picture of Maine Game Wardens.  I wonder if that "reporter" disappeared after this was published?

There’s a sheriff in Colorado, Adams County I think, they has been live-streaming him riding around once a week.  Lots of criticism of grandstanding, breaking his own policies re high speed chase, etc. and so he announced this week that he’s going to curtail his FB live streams and has signed a contract with the show Cops.  That’s hasn’t played well in the media.
