The tongue can detect sweet, salty, sour and bitter; but the nuances all come from the nose (aromas).  Sounds like you've lost your sense of smell, but NOT your sense of taste; wonder if that's true for all folks who've been affected this way.
 
Regarding jumpstarting, I've seen a couple of articles on the web on exercises to retrain your sense of smell, and someone else above mentioned.  Good Luck!

Canceled my employment contract with work… been negotiating for the past 2 weeks as my notice has been ticking down..finally struck a deal to keep me around at least another year… we had some corporate “investors” come in and that was never my goal to work for corporate. Told them I was bouncing 

first week negotiations didn’t go well… had until the end of this week to get stuff signed… told them i had wasted enough of my duck season worrying about this skit.. I was headed to camp .. I have cell service only in 2 Areas of the day.. if stuff wasn’t worked out then I wasn’t worrying about it… I think my boss told them i was serious..

this morning’s weather sucked but apparently was the right combo.. hunting out of my pit in December in flip flops with more pintails than I knew what to do… only other place I’ve seen this many birds at once was Argentina 

Duck Dog did well and brought his A game again.. the past 3 years.. he’s really been on Autopilot and that makes everything so relaxing 

10 birds between me and my buddy… could have shot 5 limits if I had been on point 

Tonight enjoyed a steak from MSU meats lab while duck dog slept on the couch.

I went to the doctor for a sinus infection I couldn’t whoop back in early 20’ the nurse checking me out asked me if I was having trouble smelling stuff (I was) because she had something similar recently and lost smell and taste.   This was before Covid allegedly had hit out shores, I remember seeing the local smokies meeting with the hospital staff in preparation. Coincidence? Maybe but in hind sight..

brothers girlfriend lost taste after covid this summer. i made nachos with sliced scorpion peppers and she didnt notice it at all. her taste is just now starting to come back. stick with the cheap bourbon for a while and save up for a really great bottle when the time comes

i put that on the things to do list right after writing that. she is an RN and still wont get the vaccine, as stubborn as my brother

That has to be one of the more mystifying aspects of the pandemic, that some folks who have literally seen people on their deathbeds begging for the vaccine are refusing to get it themselves.

Maybe a symptom of sars-cov-2 infection is cognitive dissonance.  That would explain a lot of what we're seeing here.  Or it could be from PFAS poisoning....Occam's razor is still telling me people are simply idiots.

It took almost a year for my smell and taste to come back.  I still can't really smell cologne.  I smell the alcohol, but not really the fragrance.

Thx. Mild symptoms (vaxxed but not boosted yet). 4 hour wait at the walk in. GP office closed for the holidays. Buddy has an at home test she’s picking up on the way home. Hoping for the best

The only other tool I've found in the BGE was small pliers. I'm a little more convinced that came from a bag a lump. Fun times. 

Do you suspect it came with the charcoal? If so, the putty knife could have been used to re-point (mortar) their bricks in their furnaces, and then left behind when they started the furnace up. I hope that thing didn't have a plastic handle...

I can't imagine not noticing a burning plastic handle unless you were doing a clean burn.  My money is on it hitching a ride from the collier.
