Yeah a loose Jack attacked my female Boxer years ago when I was walking her. I picked her up and he jumped up and bit her belly. Only time that I ever heard her growl . The owner got him just before I treated him like a 50 yard field goal. Some people with little fluff dogs let them out the front door at night so that they will go crap in the neighbors yard but they are few.

i call the jack in my neighborhood napolean, daigon is his army. daigon is a weak minded unsure of himself german shepard bully that cowers and runs home if i say his name in a low harsh voice. my britt hates him

not sure a jack would have attacked my old german shepard root, maybe it would try just the once.  neighbor gave me a problem when i got him as a pup, i had his little girls name him. rootie-tootie-fruitie-pootie =) he never said anything to me again.

Do you know what root means in Australian slang. Hmm? How to keep it PG13?

My Jacks get to roam, but not by themselves.  When they go out front I am with them, the only time they are out alone, is in a 10,000 sq. ft fenced in area.

Also, I have no neighbors within shouting distance, so only thing I have to worry about are the occasional walkers who cut through my property.  I have an old walking/horse trail that I keep open for people to use.

When I was in a neighborhood, they never went out front without a leash.  They would take off as soon as they say a rabbit or bird.

  • Reading about the cancellation of the GA Mtn Eggfest.  I'd start a new thread on the topic but it's not my place to do that.  I suspect @egret will be here soon enough to do just that.

  • So this COVID mess is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced. I'm back to feeling fine with the exception of some minor sinus pressure and the fact that I can neither taste nor smell. EVERYTHING tastes like nothing. What's odd is I can taste if things are salty, sweet, tart, etc. but can't taste flavors. I poured Scorpion Tabasco on some tacos earlier and NADA. I'm pretty sure right now I could eat a ghost pepper and couldn't tell the difference in it and a grape. Any thoughts as to how I can jumpstart my smell and taste again? Citrus, Mint, and spicy food have done nothing. I even tried to smell vinegar and isopropyl alcohol earlier and zip....

Have you tried returning your tastebuds to Costco?

    I kid…

Based on what I have heard and read, I don’t think there’s really anything you can do other than to wait.   Hopefully you will regain your senses sooner rather than later.  A friend of mine lost his for a couple of months, but that was before the vaccines.

Mine came back slowly over the course of 4 weeks.  I have a friend who hasn't tasted in 10 months.

Oh good lord. I was hoping this was a 2-3 day kinda thing. Not being able to taste or smell is worse than anything else I experienced. The rest was like a sinus infection.

That second part… damn.  Reason all by itself to get vaccinated, just for some protection against that.   Many people don’t get terribly sick from covid, sure, but losing your sense of taste and smell is plenty bad enough.

Unless you have no nerve endings in your butt, I’d stand down from the scorpion peppers. Just saying. Good luck moving forward.

My daughter lost hers for about 4 weeks.  It is starting to come back.  She was very excited because she can taste sweet things now.

I was hoping like you, that it would come back like it went away.  I was at a lunch meeting and had a Jimmy John's Hot Italian Sandwich and it was delicious.  Later that night I had a hankering for a Culver's shake and I could not taste it.  The no smell/no taste did come in real handy when our dogs were sick with diarrhea.  Cleanup was a non-event in the smell department.

Was thinking I was going to be asymptomatic, but I think I am starting to get some. Nothing crazy yet. Pho for dinner will certainly help.

My mom contracted Covid late January 2021 along with my dad and SIL. Mom still can’t taste or smell 10+ months later, and it was her only symptom. Occasionally she can smell coffee, that’s it. Dad 100% asymptomatic the entire time and it leveled SIL who was 6 months pregnant at the time

I haven't gotten smell nor taste back since Aug 2020.   I do however have (fantom) smells.  Most of the time it smells like cigarettes being smoked.  It's so strong that I've actually walked around the house to see if someone was outside.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

You can at some point ‘train’ your senses of smell and taste and they will return faster (if it does at all.

    read up on it

If the potential hammer of covid isn't enough to push you to the vaccine juice and booster, then perhaps the above side effects will.
I am quite sure that nothing above will change anyone but I had to give it a shot.
There some things you can't fix-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Ya Ive been fully vaccinated for almost a year so not sure the vaccine does anything to prevent this part. However, this completely sucks. Kind of a you don't know what you have till it's gone scenario.

Upon further review, I suggest that any additional covid related comments or commentary find a new home.  No need to get close to the third rail with this thread.  Works for me-

It’s not the end of the world, but obviously it’s not the kind of thing anyone wants for any period of time.  Maybe you don’t have much of any empathy for other people, I’m not sure.

There’s a guy just upstream who shared that he’s lost his sense of taste and smell for more than a year, and here you are mocking that like it’s no big deal.  Maybe try growing a soul.
