speaking of Covid+, baby bro popped positive on at home test. Yay, working instead of being on vacation. Good thing we weren’t together yesterday for Christmas as planned

It’s amazing the number of contacts that are now reporting having tested positive. An uncle, former neighbours, brother-in-law’s roommate, several classmates or bus mates of my daughter’s….. Just a matter of time before we’ve all had our turn.

This variant is spreading like wild fire. Cases are going through the roof. Testing is inundated ...

The good news is it seems to be almost 100% mild cases ... hospitalizations so far seem under control.

They say this may be the variant we need ... one that offers herd immunity without making us all super sick.

Yeah, I know probably 10-12 people with it. Little bro only immediate family member. His wife and my folks all had original strain back in early 2021. Really wondering if the kids will actually go back to school on 1-3-22 if the spread continues

That would be a great outcome of this. Unfortunately this strain doesn’t care if you’re vaxxed or boostered.

Actually I have heard and read that vax'ed and boosted really reduces the Omicron impact.
The knock-on impact for those in the unvax'ed camp is that, given the quick spread the concern is that it will put tremendous pressure on medical staffs and hospitals.  This could result in triage of others who need unrelated medical attention.  FWIW-

Just finished putting away all the Christmas decorations.  Love putting them up, and almost love once they are all put away just as much.

Oh you're one of those people. My neighbors throw out their Christmas tree every year on 12/26. We keep ours up till early January.

Yes, sir.  We put it up Nov 1st, and take it down within a few days after Christmas.  Love the season, but 12/26 is no longer the season.

Got my test back. Either I am a genetically superior specimen or I tested too early because it came back negative.

I tested negative xmas eve because I felt horrible.  Still do actually.  If this isn't the new variable, this is the worst sinus infection I have ever had.

Our Christmas tree goes up around mid October, and last year came down on April Fool's Day. So there! And to @Ozzie_Isaac, the Twelve Day of Christmas START on Christmas Day and run until the Epiphany on 6 January. So there again!

I thought the move was to keep it for 5-7 years and then return it to Costco?

Hah - my MIL is like that.  All her stuff was out within a couple days of Halloween.  I don’t think my wife would be, but we really don’t have the time to do it before the long Thanksgiving weekend.  Same way it’ll come down in early January, depending on when the extra day off for New Years falls.

Pro tip: Buy, use, return all in same season, repeat next year. New tree every Christmas, no storage space and no cleaning/dusting needed  =)

If only Costco would pickup returns from your house too.  That would be perfect.

As an aside.  I know a guy who pays $10k a year for a similar service for his outdoor lights.  He pays the money and they come and put lights up, around the roof line and on trees and bushes.  They drive by once a week to look for bulbs that are out and fix them.  Then at the end of the season they remove them all and store them for him.  All that service and only $10,000!! (I jest about "only" I choked, then laughed when he told me the cost.  I thought he was kidding, but he was not.)

@Ozzie_Isaac - it is clear from the side stories that you orbit in a much higher sphere than me.  We could expand the info behind my assessment but  hi-roller gifts and an in-ground spa (okay, pool he says) big enough to handle his stable of horses has established a base-line.  All in good fun here- =)
BTW- Thursday night Zoom for the win!  Be there.

As you say, better to be lucky than good, and I have been lucky .... Although, my personal orbit is no where near $10k Christmas lights.  I cringe when I have to pay more than $12.99 for a string.

  • Investigating the city leash law. The dog in the picture, while on his owner's property, was neither on a leash, behind a fence, or even accompanied by his owner. I believe the dog to be a Brazilian breed developed for fighting and hunting dangerous game, he has walked all the way to the edge of the asphalt before. It seems that the confinement clause of the law only applies if he has been judged vicious . He is about a 100 pounds and his owner doesn't give a damn. The first attack would likely be fatal. I guess that I would have options if it was a bass boat in the front yard.

Do you by chance own a 30/06? You will be surprised at the problems it will solve 👍

    Status- Standing by.

6.5 Creedmore but that would raise more problems than it solves. It might get me off of my butt about getting a CCL for my 40 S & W though.

A google search reveals that it is a mastiff of Italian, not Brazilian, breeding called the Cane Corso.
I had been walking my Boxer on the opposite side of the road. Women also walk their little fluff dogs or kids in strollers in that area.
