    First point of order,  tread carefully around me and @Eoin during The Ashes. Early signs are that of a ‘typical England’ series.  For more details see; Google  > The Ashes

    In other news, we’re moving to Plan B with that there Covid bug.  No-one is quite sure what it means and I’ll only panic when we get to Plan 9 (from outer space)

    Here we do then; Friday; Brentford v Watford - both the promoted teams are yet to decide if they are Arthur or Martha, netiher capitulating of excelling. 1-1

    Saturday;

    Man City v Wolves - Citeh are just about too good for everyone right now, except maybe Chelsea and Liverpool but that’s not the point.  Home win, obvs  2-0

    Arsenal v Southampton - injury depleted Saints might aim to park the proverbial bus for this one.  Have the Gunners got the minerals?  Yes, but small ones. 1-0

    Chelsea v Leeds - the visitors arrive shorn of their midfield terrier / asset multiplier Kalvin Phillips which essentially means the defeat will be heavier 3-0

    Liverpool v Villa - homecoming for Steeeevie G hot on the heels of new manager bounce style 2 wins from three.  Different gravy this time though - 2-1

    Norwich v Man Utd - the Canaries time in the sun might be ending with a visit from suddenly in-form Utd.  The hosts will be harried, harangued and hassled to a multi-goal defeat. 0-3

    Stoke v Middlesborough - time for the Potters to press-on and show their desire.  Boro doing well but a winnable game for the hosts. 2-1

    Sunday;

    Brighton v Tottenham - One nil to covid as most of the Spurs staff have it, match postponed

    Burnley v West Ham - fascinatingly dour encounter for the purists here and no obvious choice.  Even the draw feels hard to call, which is my usual go-to.  Table upsetting 1-0 because the Hammers’ key defender is side-lined for 3 months.

    Leicester v Newcastle - little pleases me about the Foxes winning but they have to against the dark forces of the Toon, just for the sake of all that is good about life.  Not going to be easy but they inch it 2-1

    Palace v Everton - bang on cue Palace arrive in Everton’s fixtures to ease their recent poor form and gift them a tepid victory to see  the once soaring Eagles emulate that manky pigeon that limps around the bins.  (Yes, dear reader - my brief optimism is fully sapped) 0-1

    Just two more weeks and the days get longer again, hang in their lads.

    Other girls may try to take me away

    Reviewing my window sticker from Ford (finally!). Body meets chassis on 12/16. Now, how long before the choo choo train gets it to Louisiana from Michigan is the million dollar question

    Reading about the passing of Al Unser and the family racing legacy.  The accomplishments in open-wheel racing rightly get all the headlines.  What they've done at Pikes Peak is just as impressive in my mind.  If you ever drive up that mountain note the race course start/finish lines.  Then ponder completing it in about 10 min.

    I do hope Arsenal shows better than they did Monday against Everton.  I like Arteta and would like to see him soon be a long term solution, but his match management was atrocious and cost them at least a point there.

    Day two of the brisket bender:  Nailed 3 more places.  The gluttony is real

    Ranked #2 in the state.  Only pit master I spoke with today.  I can see why it is ranked where it is.
    That little cube is a peach glazed belly burnt end!

    Veered off the brisket trail as they are known for barbacoa and beef cheeks-both outstanding but the cheeks won.

    The brisket was not up to the standards of any of the other stops but the jalapeno cheese grits were quite tasty.

    Slow rolling Saturday given the pace of the past two days.  Louie Mueller's and perhaps only one more. Then getting landed for the Navy beats Army football game.  Always a great time and always learn a few things.  Back to L'ville Sunday.
    Thanks for lookin.

    Picked up 32 dozen tamales for Christmas gifts.

    I need to check the local Mexican market’s parking lot and see if the little old Abuela selling them out of an old yellow drink cooler yet. She makes the best.

    This is the time of year!  Best tamales come from dark parking lots.

    Power just came back. Looks like I have a tree or two down. South central Indiana was spared for the most part. Western KY took a hit. I believe @lousubcap was spared too in Louisville but I think he’s still on his TX brisket binge.

    Glad you're okay; you guys took a hit!  I thought the Cap'n was in Texas until Sunday.

    "Santa" is riding the local firetruck, sirens blaring, through my neighborhood, the fire dept are walking alongside and handing out candy to the local kids.  The two German Shepards that live next door are howling along with the sirens.

    Do like California does. Give them all a gold star for participation. Can't damage the youngster's self esteem.

    Unfortunately I do have colleagues who appear to adopt that approach, especially in their graduate courses.  But I am not one of those people.  In my opinion, their is value in a mark that indicates how well you actually did in the course and mastered the material.  I guess I‘m old school that way.
