Are you going to be there for the Night Lighting?  Awesome, and driving away on Iron Mountain Road yields some fantastic granite tunnel "framing".  Enjoy!

No night lighting. Gotta wake up early. Heading to Yellowstone. We took the Iron road in so we could see everything head on. That was just as cool if not a little bit more than the park itself.

  • Noticed today that my mower had lost a nut holding the handle together. Searched the grass for a while without success. Redneck engineering to the rescue!....

Mind the shovels and hockey sticks. The ground is white the better part of the year here.

This area was nothing but dirt at the end of last year. Still not quite there, but coming along.

You have close to a zero percent  chance finding a nut in the grass without a magnet.

Had a ride and drive event for research partners today, I was driving a gator around a grass field all morning that hasn’t been mowed yet this year and really torqued off my allergies.  Had to shower at lunch and my eyes looked like I had a drug problem.  After another round of meds tonight I’m finally starting to feel human again.  These things kick in and I’m going to be passed out.

It had a big plastic cap on it for hand tightening. Thought I’d find it easily, but no bueno.

Been there, done that, with a recent Honda.  Could not find that bolt/nut combo anywhere (on a Honda?!?) Ended up with an ugry (but working) galvanzined bolt setup; still working 3 years later.

Glad to hear I should get at least three more years out of the old girl. But really, it only sees about four months of use per year, so it sounds like @botch has certified it for a good nine years!

Planning out vacations…Washington this summer, NYC over Columbus Day, TBD early November, debating London/Rome/Barcelona next spring break.
I would heartedly endorse Barcelona of those on your list with London a long second .  However, London has much more connective history and there is a who lot more outside the city-Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and much more.
Barcelona is the best city I have experienced in Europe given the history and cosmopolitain atmosphere.  You will do well wherever you land but as you well know they are all different.

That's not a nut but a knob.  Inaccurate descriptions invite unwarranted commentary, dammit!

    HVAC help...

A couple months ago they changed the cap on our upstairs unit, charged it and it's been working great.

Yesterday I noticed the same unit was making a humming sound (outside) and the fan inside the housing wasn't spinning. Air is blowing out of the vents inside the house, but it's not cold.

Anything I can check or do myself while I'm waiting on a service?
Check the breaker first , the contactor voltage comes from the indoor unit, could be  a tripped breaker or a bad dual run capacitor ....could be a burnt wire ,but id start with the breaker

You the man. HVAC guy said the breaker outside had gone bad so he replaced it.  Also noticed the water pan on the inside of the house was full of water which tripped the safety switch. So I vacuumed it out and and everything kicked on and it was cooling again.  However, we left the house for a few hours and came back home and the water pan was filling up with water again. There's several drops falling every few seconds.

    Any ideas now? ha

Doesn't your water pan have a drain line to the outside? Perhaps it's clogged.

You're a car guy. I'm guessing you've heard of Vise Grip Garage on YouTube? Derek would be proud!

Making a YUGE batch of super fresh red and mangrove snapper ceviche.   It will be life changing..

I would snuggle up to that with a bag of tortilla chips and make my self sick eating so much

Actually, it is vermillion and red snapper, not mangrove
