  • @ColtsFan, @Mattman3969: We are expecting almost 4” of snow tonight despite having had good temps and even a few days nearing 80F within the last few weeks. No matter how tempted I may be, I’m still telling myself that I’m not allowed to take out the snowblower.

I'm exchanging verbal blows on an industry specific  Facebook thread.  People suck.  I ask an opinion question and get a know it all smart A** giving his macro opinion and I'm not open minded.  Just stay on topic like we do on the egghead forum! 🤣
    Nope, not sunk yet 😁

Decided to switch it up with a fun summer photo.  Everyone loves the ice cream truck.

Actually had some time and learned how to operate this Horizon Origin router.  This is the first thing I did, played around with the engraving bit.  The graphic, a phallic shaped dildo, didn't convert to SVG format.  Learning the software side is tougher than the tool side.
Sorry, got the name wrong.  It's a Shaper Origin.   Does this kind of stuff.
Posts like this make me question my taste.  All of those look amazingly skilled and way beyond my skillset.  And yet, my favorite one is the door stop.

Arguing with the insurance company over the cost of the tornado damage....barn was a barn...not living quarters so apparently it gets depreciated....adjuster took it upon himself to depreciate 90% of value....

I find this out AFTER I book contractors to start repairing skit when check came in mail. ..and the check they sent except for 1k is for a new roof only apparently in letter today

@lkapigian...yes that sucks..barn is initially valued at 12k...depreciated value is $600.
I already have sheet metal ordered and contractor lined up...was paying out of pocket for concrete pad vs dirt floor...but now I'm having to scrounge and move money so we see

Same crap happened to a buddy with his camp on the coast with Hurricane Delta. Insured at 125,000 for the last 20 years. Depreciated down to 47k post storm. 68 grand to rebuild it. He’s less than thrilled at coming out of pocket 25 grand to cover something that was insured

I'm surprised that anyone will insure a camp at all given they get wiped out constantly from storms/hurricanes.  (probably can't get flood insurance on any on the water, I'm talking about the other kind).

You can get replacement plans, but I'm not sure they don't fall into depreciation plans for auxiliary buildings like detached garages/barns, etc.

They got lucky. Bought it in summer of 2018, the house was listed and relisted for a while in the market because swimming pool was a liability. Funny how things changed due to covid. The NG Weber gasser came with the house; they bought the Traeger on the left. Believe it or not, I had a Large BGE house warming gift for them and they refused, so did our son, go figure!

that wont even cover the insurance cost increase. i really hate insurance companies. sue the broker, he said it was covered for 12k, im betting he did not say initially valued for 12k

RE: insurance on non primary dwelling/camp/etc

Lots of life experience here via family connections. Fascinating subject

My parents finally sold their interest in a long held family beach bungalow in New Smyrna Beach, FL and one of the deciding factors was insurance. Outrageous cost and absolute hell to get funds when storm damage inevitably happens. Last straw was a storm that casued damage but did not make landfall - so neither wind and water nor named storm policies wanted to cover

Brother owns a house in outer banks of NC and same story there.
