    Is it just me or is the Eggtoberfest thread gone?

    It’s just you, unfortunately.
    Oh I think I know why I do not see it.  On my laptop, I noticed a little gear icon.  I choose "dismiss" but it did not immediately go away.  Now it is gone on my phone and W10 Laptop.

    Yep, that makes it disappear.  Good.

  • Is there a reason there are no qualifications for the money? Why are people who don’t need it receiving it?
    The additions to the child tax credit start to phase out at incomes that are above $75k for single filers, etc.
    if this is to help people at the poverty level, or close to it, I’m not sure I understand how they picked these high income numbers to start phasing out. Seems $150k/couple should be able to manage a decent living by any standards. Even a head of household making 75k with 2-3 kids should be well above the poverty line. Seems a lot of people who don’t need it and didn’t ask for it, will be receiving a good bit of money, and many people that need it, won’t see any of it, either because they aren’t filling or don’t know about it. You'd asked why there weren't any qualifications for the money. I just pointed out that, in fact, there are qualifications.

    $75k a year probably goes pretty far in Snellville, GA.  Less so in major cities.  As for why that's the threshold I don't know.  All I know is that experts who have reviewed the policy believe it will make a dent in childhood poverty.  That's good enough for me, but then I tend to believe in expertise.

    Haha! Not yet. My wife tries and tries to get him up on the couch and will torture him until he jumps up. He knows not to go up on the couches. I hardly have to say the first letter of his name and he's already shot off the couch. The bed is a different story. I solely blame my wife on that one!

    The son is going to the first night of the police explorers program the department puts on. He waited until the last minute to look at all the paperwork he needed to bring with him, filled out and signed.

    It is a program designed for those that interested in joining a LE related field and the first month is a “police academy.” In addition to his lack of attention to detail, procrastination and the instructors knowing his dad, I’m thinking he won’t have a great time tonight.

    Not only important for interest in LE, but dissuasion of interest in other occupations.  "hey dad, was interested in a life of crime as a professional thief, but after this explorers program, I've decided I'm just not cut out for politics after all...."

    No pic.   Egged about  12 pork chops. Been at least 15 years maybe more.  Bought a pig last year.  Working my way thru it.  Funny how the breakfast sausage and bacon was gone months ago!

    We appealed a “right to use” ruling she gave on short term rentals with zero public input or interest in mine. Nothing like a 4.5 hour appeal on a Thursday night. We lost 3-2 by the board’s vote, imagine that

    Lads, lads, lads; great news.  The county cricket season has commenced.  We have surged to Day 2 already but fear not because you can catch-up and live stream via the ECB website at no cost.   I know most of you will have done so already but we’re a broad church and this news might have slipped by some of the congregation.

    The small matter of 8 PL games left,  stick with it we’re almost there.

    Tonight;

    Fulham v Wolves, a tale of could’ve/should’ve/would’ve for Fulham last week after taking the lead against Villa and then shipping three to comfortably lose. Wolves will be a tough ask to wrestle 3 points from and no matter how rubbish Newcastle are, they have more points - so to stay up the Cottagers have to generate wins from somewhere. Not this week. 1-2

    Saturday;

    Man City v Leeds, this game was a bunch of fun earlier in the season but it’s a different kettle of fish now.  Citeh are cruising to the title and have the CL on their minds.  Leeds have their beachwear on.  Mundane 2-0

    Liverpool v Villa, wheels off in Europe too now for big Jurgy, so the Reds have to upturn their league form to qualify for next seasons CL. Villa whacked them 7-2 last time around but that’s not happening this time. Narrow win for the Scousers 2-1

    Palace v Chelsea, it all went belly up in spectacular fashion for Tommy T last week.  He won’s permit a repeat and Palace need no encouragement to be flaccid, especially as they appear safe for another season.  Many Eagles out of contract in the Summer. They might see these games as the shop window or, more likely, they have plans in place and couldn’t give a monkeys chuff.  0-2

    Sunday;

    Burnley v Newcastle, 1-0 is all I got but to be honest a Toon win would be my preference just to hinder Brighton.

    West Ham v Leicester, surprise European place contenders face-off. I just think the Foxes have the edge but it could well be the best game this week. 2-3

    Spurs v Man Utd, Jose can revel in the company of two squads who just aren’t good enough for him - as according to his recent pronouncement that’s the problem.   Kane has got his scoring boots back but Utd usually find the net more than once.  1-2

    Sheff Utd v Arsenal, what’s the point of this one? 0-1

    Monday;

    West Brom v Southampton, just too much to do for the Baggies now and a defeat here will be the death-knell.  Saints have been a bit wonky recently so it could be a bit helter-skelter. 2-3

    Brighton v Everton, better-on-the-road Toffees need to take all three to keep European dreams alive.  The rotten filthy stinking Seagulls are nudging safety, largely because four other teams have elected to play worse than them all season - for which I can find no forgiveness.  0-1

    Stoke head just down the road to play Birmingham City who are loitering precariously over the relegation zone.   Both teams in similar form, so who wants it more? Probably the Blues, 1-0.

    That’s enough of me detaining you from the county cricket coverage. Away you go back to watch the remaining five hours of today’s ponderous, mediocre and arcane sporting endeavour.

    Other girls may try to take me away
    But you know, it's by your side I will stay
