    Just turned on the oven, using my phone, from my recliner. SWMBO still doesn’t see the value in that 🤣

    Bringing mullets back, I should have went full mullet in my younger years, this kid gets attention from every chick we see. There has to be special power in mullets!

    Far back in history (March 2020), 100’s of thousands of fans would be surging in to watch this weekend’s matches with rivalries and titans of the game clashing across the country. But the dull sound of kicking and coaches barking from the sideline is the new normal.

    Nonetheless we tumble in to gameweek #5.  My algorithm has been reset to assume a baseline of 5-5 for every match, minimum 3 penalties, at least one red card and game time running to several hours to permit all possible technology to be deployed for every kick.

    Saturday;

    Everton v Liverpool,  the Scouse derby and notoriously devoid of violence. Great game on offer, 3-2 and the Toffees roll on.  Jurgen swears much and Salah gets 2 goals so doesn’t care.

    Chelsea v Southampton, Blues have momentum and talent, Saints are wobbling. 3-1

    Man City v Arsenal, Pep v Arteta - time to hand over the baton?  No, but a good game on offer. 2-2

    Newcastle v Man Utd, know anyone that is unreliable but likeable - well that’s these 2 teams. 4-3

    In the championship - Stoke v Luton, good test for the Potters as the Hatters have started well.  2-2.

    Sunday;

    Sheff Utd v Relegation Fodder A (Fulham), weak stat by the Blades and they need all three here.  3-1

    Palace v Brighton, my high and low light of the year.  It s rivalry not a derby and it’s full of vitriol between the fans and players.  Could be 5-0 either way,  could be 0-0 - its that sort of game.  Lack of crowd a big factor here.  2-1

    Spurs v West Ham, Jose has got his dander up and the Hammers aren’t happy campers.  Perhaps the mythical Bale will emerge for the first time? 4-1

    Leicester v Villa, the visitors are a surprise package this time being 3 from 3.  The Foxes got caught cold by West Ham last time out. Not this time 2-1

    Monday;

    West Brom v Burnley, the relegation destined hosts have 1 point, Burnley have none and no-one predicted that. It starts here for Dyche’s lads. 1-2

    Leeds v Wolves, it’s been a rollercoaster already for Leeds while Wolves have stuttered. Goals ahoy at Elland Road 2-3

    SWMBO is running this cook....(and testing out her brand new Magnalite)...anyway it's lamb shank.

    Nice use of the magnalite. I picked up one larger than that a few years ago at a yard sale for like 10 or 15 bucks. I still haven’t used it.

    I have seven people that live in my house. My wife took all of them to Arizona for the weekend. Its just me, the dog and cat. It is quiet. Almost eerily so.

    Now trying to figure out what I want to do for dinner.

    I am rocking the full Covid mullet right now. It’s glorious. Last haircut was in March. Think I’m going full Kentucky Waterfall until I have to travel for work again. And perhaps beyond

    Beer, feet up, non-stop sport on the TV, burger or dog and chips for tea.

  • Burning down coals in the kbq. Smoking a loin ham this morning. Canadian bacon cut but cured like a holiday ham and coated with Meat Church Honey Hog. Sliced thin on the slicer for sandwiches.

    Working in the garden. We’re thinning carrots and kale.
    Since it’s that time of year, let’s all sing:
    🎶 Kale to the Chef 🎵

    Coleman, Texas
    Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
    "Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

    Great idea. Chili dogs may be on the menu. Please forgive my uncultured colonist vocabulary @E@Eoin, but time is "tea" exactly?

    @Canugghead Thanks. My new phone does a good job. I have lots of $$$ tied up in both film and digital cameras- lenses out the wazzoo. I seldom pull them out anymore.

    It varies, depending on where you live. If you're a soft posh southerner like @CPFC1905, it's cakes and cucumber sandwiches in the late afternoon. For the rest of us, it's our evening meal.

    Indeed, tea is consumed via bone china and with a touch of milk.  My pseudo northern friend (#straightouttaCoulsdon) has assimilated the term to infer carbohydrates laden with gravy o’clock.

    Switching from the gecko to Flo. Cut my deductible in half and my 6 month cost is 45% what it was.  I don’t think I need to do anything else to have enjoyed a productive Saturday.

    I harvested the sweet potatoes and then rototilled the garden to lay it flat for the winter. Still have two bell pepper plants loaded with peppers.
    Now lunchtime , yesterday’s chicken thighs, then take Mom to get her flu shot.
