  • @tarheelmatt I'm very fortunate. The guy I work for is a great dude. We've been together off and on in a lot of different roles for the last 14 yrs or so. He moves on and before long drags me in. He's been my "rabbi".

That's nice for sure!  That pack mode works here too, however the water has been stagnant for a while with not much wiggle room anywhere.  The business is spending some money and posting jobs now, so I'm hoping things will work out.  I could end up having to move closer as well, which I feel I'm prepared to do, now.

Friggin tax preparation.  Nothing I hate more.
Just got done filing ours. Glad that's over.
My W2 showed up online yesterday around noon and taxes were submitted by 2. I'm finally getting my backyard fenced in with some of it and probably get the concrete porch doubled in size. I need to change my deductions but it's nice to get toy money every year.
I have our deductions set to pretty much not get a big return.  My only rule with taxes is not to OWE money come this time of year.  I've got it down fairly well with our deductions in such to get right around $1k a year back.
It'll pay for our trip to Chicago next week.  =)

I plan on getting my daughter to the Field Museum, but not this trip.  This is strictly a shopping and dining trip for them, and a dining and beer trip for me. It's some much needed time away from work since I've worked heavily, non-stop from Thanksgiving til now.

Thanks!  I love it.  It'll be my wife and daughters second trip.  My daughter loves it and while my wife enjoys it, she's usually had enough by the time we are heading home.  She's a country girl and the "big city" is just too fast and crazy for her at times.
I have a bunch of friends in Chicago, and I love all the different areas of town.  I love the Half Acre/Bad Apple part of town, as well as Bucktown.  Have a friend that works for Goose Island and will be having lunch and spending some time at Three Floyds on the way in to town.
We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott and there's a starbucks in the lobby and a Garrett's popcorn right outside the door.  My girl's will be in heaven.

There's honestly too much city and food to show them in four days.

Looks like an easy swap. Honda wanted $470 to do it it's gonna cost me under $100 and maybe 2 hours. If I had to do it again I could do it in 45 minutes. Starters is out.

@Lit ... count yourself lucky.  Starter quit on the previous Jeep Grand Cherokee ... 5.7 liter engine w/ towing package.  If I squirmed just right when under the vehicle, I could see about three sq inches of the starter.  Paid the dealer to change that one!

On my old Nissan Maxima it was underneath and a PITA to get to.  Needless to say, I didn't do that job on my own.

Yessir!  That's one of my favorite stretches.  Map Room, Arturo's for taco's, then Revolution Brewing.  Chicago in the spring, is one of my favorite drinking places to be.  Most places have open fronts for fresh air, and so many stops within walking distance.  It's great.

You know, there's a couple of places that have avoided me on my many trips to Chicago.  One is Hop Leaf, and the other is out of the city, in the burbs, but Bavarian Lodge.  Both are on my list, but won't happen this trip either.

A buddy of mine took me around last spring.  I don't know what part of town it was.  There was a bar just down the street from Bangers and Lace.  Nice street front bar with open front.  Must be a lot of yoga places nearby because the view was mighty fine sitting in front of this place with a beer in hand!

@yemtrey you got it! sounds like you were on Division St. Lots of fun places, so little time! If you are ever in Chicago and not showing family around let me know and I'll meet you in town for a drink.

@SGH -  I can't even imagine where the brisket thread, "In the Style of Franklin" is gonna land.  Too many options to consider-I will wait for the commercial. ;)
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Starting with the assumption that it arrived frozen solid-it will take every bit of 3+ days to refrigerator thaw right now.  You can accelerate the process (if a weekend cook is planned) by tossing into a cold water bath and changing the water around every hour or so til you are there.  FWIW-
