Someone posted this on Facebook. I heard about a cousin of mine that made slingshots and was a sharp shooter, but had no idea he was this good!

I stopped up at my parents house yesterday and worked on the old globe slicer in my dad's shop. The old Delco motor had a rumble to it so we took it apart and examined it. We didn't notice any wear marks so we cleaned it and lightly sanded the shaft and oiled it. We also added a couple shims so there wasn't so much play in it. Someone in the past had been in the motor so we cleaned up some of their electrical hack work with cleaning up electrical contact points and new shrink wrap. Still need a couple spots that need to be re-soldered before the final tightening. We started the motor up and the rumble was nonexistent and ran that way for the next 45 minutes. Sweet!!! Cool to see a 75 year old motor work and sound the way it did when new.
The paint is stripped on the motor housing but the end caps still need to sand blasted and painted. Since the main motor housing can't be sand blasted or powder coated I'm thinking the whole motor will be spray painted. It's coming along slowly but enjoying learning along the way with my Dad.
I brought some baby back ribs up to my parents that needed to be cooked. I tossed them in their egg. I forgot to grab some smoke wood before leaving home. So they lacked smoke but descent grub overall.

@Lit Cool! That's solid customer service.
Side note I was just farting around scrolling through threads and saw your response. I didn't receive a notification even though you "quoted". Checked my notifications and they haven't changed. The business sector's HQ is in Cary, but I work at the factory, down the interstate in Mebane.
I'm actually a little burmmed. The class I'm going to is by GE Crotonville. Usually we travel to Crotonville for the training, but the business decided to save money and do the class in Cary! Crap! Crotonville is like a palace! Food galore, drinks, etc!
But, on the bright side, it is a great item for the resume, so I'll take it!------------------------------

I can relate. I feel the sense of being too much of an expert to not move on. However, a couple months ago I get an email stating they're sending me to Crotonville training. I'm really hoping something will arise soon for me. Getting a little burnt out of what I do currently. Usually GE don't spend the money for these classes for you to do the same job. Fingers crossed (for you and I!).------------------------------

In all seriousness, I just went to my boss in December and said I'm bored and need more of a challenge. He didn't give me what I asked for, but I'm about to venture into a completely different part of the business. Nothing official yet, but it feels like a done deal.

@Ozzie_Isaac I've been there too. Asked for a plant to run, got turned down. A few years later after a couple of different assignments, got a much bigger plant to run in a different part of manufacturing.
Also, as a part of the latest interview process a man told me. You may have to work, but it ain't gotta be here.
Someone else may appreciate your talent more. -

I have told my manager the last two years (review sessions) about me wanting something different. Ironically, I submitted for a different job, in the same building, under a different dotted line, and eureka, things appear to be happening now. Not sure if he didn't take me seriously or what.
But hey, that's great news for you Jason. Good luck with your new to you venture!------------------------------
