Ahhh...Bridge City Toolworks. I remember them from years ago. I bought one of the only tools I could afford from them at the time - a scratch awl.
Real collectors item stuff they once made. Glad to hear they're back, at least in some fashion.

Most of mine are in the left-hand tool chest door: Small and Large squares, marking gauge, the same scratch awl, wide and narrow dovetail squares, and two adjustable angle gauges.  When they started making $950 hand drills, I had to back off a bit...

Had a happy surprise this afternoon, when I got a Klingspor's Woodworking Tool catalog.  Apparently Bridge City Tool Works was back in business!

They made very precision, beautiful, and expensive tools, and I had about a dozen of them.  Suddenly, I couldn't find them anywhere and their website went dark.  I read the "history" tab on their new site, and it didn't sound like they went out of business at all.  It did change hands, John Economaci is still their designer, but HQ has moved from OR to CA, w/ manufacturing moved to China (d'Oh).

I didn't recognize any of the tools they now offer, save one.  I got a chuckle out of this $300 beaut, allowing you to build perfectly-tapered.... chopsticks!  Both chinese and japanese sizes!

Making high-quality chopsticks out of fine hardwoods, a part-time retirement job?   =)
COVID-19 infused too!  To bad they moved manufacturing to China.

Honestly pretty interesting that there is a standard stick taper and that chinese and Japanese have a different taper on their sticks.

@Botch I think a line of chopsticks in woods to match the food would be perfect.  Peach for pork, mesquite and oak for beef, alder for fish, etc.
    Love you bro!

I thought they made chopsticks on a little Asian lathe.  That thing looks like a medical splint little rascal would sleep with to fix his peyronies.... but what do I know.

Just found out my wife's uncle passed away from COVID. He was in a nursing home so no one has been able to visit since last month.

Sorry for your loss.  Prayers for your family during this time.  The deaths while separated and inability to gather at funerals for grieving is very sad.

Be pretty funny if they actually only sold ribs and not pulled pork butts.

Someone posted a Chicken Parmesan recipe on farcebook, so of course I've been hungry for that ever since.  Had to go get a prescription filled this morning so wandered thru the market too, found breasts but no mozz (knew I had enough parmesan at home).  The brie was on sale, it melts, so....

Not bad, but brie is too distinctive a taste and not quite right (my chunk of parmesan was hard as a rock, too).  I went ahead and fried up the other two breasts (but not baked), as long as everything was dirty, and will have this again two more days.  Much better than that duck disaster from a couple days ago.

A quick question: has there been a run on lunchmeat in your locations?  Couldn't find any in either the supermarket, nor the commissary a few days ago....

I wish we had a good Thai restaurant near us. I agree that having a night off and supporting a local restaurant feels great.

We’ve ordered from our local Indian, Mexican, and pizza spots.  Might have to see what the local deli is offering for carry out; I’m sure their reubens won’t hold up on the drive back to the house, but I could probably get some pastrami, matzoh ball soup, and sauerkraut.
