I am out west skiing. Had a good lunch of salmon tacos which did not suck:
Just got back from an Italian meal and it is snowing hard at the moment. They are calling for a good amount of snow overnight, so excellent conditions are expected for tomorrow. Whoohooo!!

Gotta admit that I’m a fan of the essential oils since my wife got into it. The lavender and peppermint combo works well for a headache. Also “thieves” dropped on the vacuum filter freshens the house pretty nice.

The transfer window has opened to the traditional crescendo of media frenzy and zero player movement. Frankly they could have a ‘transfer day’ as it all gets done at the last minute anyway.
Here we go then for a three-day fun fest of footie frolics;
Tonight; Sheff U v West Ham - the travellers have sparked back to life under dour journey-man manager Moyles. But its early days and the Blades have proved robust. 2-1 home win.
Tomorrow;
1230 - Palace v Arsenal. Typically the prevails abject Gunners turn up at Palace full of renewed vim, vigour and verve. We have 12 first teamers injured. 0-1 away win.
1500;
Chelsea v Burnley - Super Frank’s chaps are wobbly at home but the visitors are in the doldrums. 2-0 home win.
Everton v Brighton - Toffees have reacted well to the change in leadership, Brighton are well organised but probably don’t have enough to see this home against the recently embarrassed hosts (see recent defeat against Liverpool 3rd team)
Leicester v Southampton - 2 strikes in top form (Vardy & Ings) face off. Foxes should see this out possibly with late goals to add gloss; 3-1.
Man U v Norwich - Ole stumbles on and he’s had a right shocker in the press this week over the defat to City. They are lacking a direction and method of approach. Norwich really, really need points and will be hopefully. If Utd actually turn-up they’ll win, otherwise a career limiting (for Ole) defeat is not impossible to imagine. 2-1 the Red Devils.
Wolves v Newcastle - Wolves have energy and skills aplenty. Should style this one out, 2-0 home win.
In the championship;
Stoke v Millwall, the Potters are one point above the dreaded dotted line, but the momentum is up. A win will give them a big boost. Despite invoking the ire of @Eoin I’m going 2-0 home win.
1730
Spurs v Liverpool
Kane is crook, Jose dislikes Liverpool. Could be a snooze-fest 0-0 with the home team mounting a ten man defence. The Reds have sufficient to overcome that though. 0-1 and Jurgen’s men roll on.
Sunday
Lunchtime : Bournemouth v Watford
Home team in dire straits and the visitors have become the form team of the division (sort of). I predict more despondency for former golden boy Eddie Howe and these teams swapping places in the league. 0-2 away win.
Teatime:
Villa v Man City
Spirited first 20 minutes by the hosts, then a thumping. 0-3 for the Blues.
Ok, I’m off over to the retirement thread to see how Nola’s getting on.
Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay -

Had dinner at a BBQ place in Barry, South Wales. OK, but meh. Brisket burn't ends were nice, like a short rib, but the brisket slices were more like roast meat, not soft and juicy. Maybe the clue was on the menu, 9 hour smoked brisket. Ribs were OK, nicely smoked but with some kind of salty spice stuff dusted on them that was way too salty. Smoked sausage was nicely smoked, but also way too salty. Overall, too much salt on everything and underdone brisket.

We were in South Wales to bring Will to his new residential college. He's 17 this month and can stay here until 25, if it works out. It's a specialist college for young adults with autism and severe learning difficulties, hard to find good places with the right skills for the job. This is a long way from home (200 miles), but almost unique in its provision. Pic 1 is Will at the services on the way down, pic 2 at the college (after he calmed down from the idea of a new place). Staying the night and going to see him in the morning before we head home.

Just came in from skiing about an hour ago. Did an unofficial version of the “talons challenge” here at Beaver Creek (we know the runs, but we’re not officially tracked by computers and gps) it is 14 black diamond and double black diamond runs totaling 26,226 vertical feet. Legs are jello, back is sore and my neck is stiff.Hoping I will be able to move tomorrow.Accomplishing this has been a goal for a few years, but never had anyone that was willing to do it with me in our group. My cousin who is a sophomore in college said he would try it this year with me and we did it first try. I think I am more proud that he did it than I did. I started teaching him how to ski when he was 8 and last year he did his first double black diamond.
A pretty fantastic day for me all around and I feel awesome. Sore as hell and exhausted, but still awesome.--------------------------------------------------

Time to cook a paella-only trick besides the mise en place was trying to time it for a 30 minute road trip to my son's house.
Sausage (his wife doesn't do seafood) scallops and shrimp.
And here's the less than great money shot (always gotta have it with a cook...) taken by my son:
Came up a little soft on the soccarat but mighty tasty.
Thanks for lookin'.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Looking good Frank. Hope you have the hatches fastened down, mother nature is pissed f*ckin off (for good reason).
