The chuck roast just finished up a 48 hour swim in the SV. Tossed on the egg for a few minutes.

It turned out nice and tender. My wife even complemented the steaks tenderness. "Why can't the egg make it this tender?" Ha! I thought it was good but not great. It had nothing to to with the sous vide or BGE. The rub I used wasn't a good pairing from the start. I'll find something a little better suited the next go around.

I really can see how some of these cheap cuts of beef paired with the SV can become a nice tasty meal.
What seasoning did you use?  Anything off the shelf that we can avoid if and when we do something similar?
I used Dizzy Pig Game On. Which I like as a rub. I don't know if the rub has celery seed in it but the steak had a strong aroma of celery when removing it from the bag. The flavor wasn't bad but I should have stayed with salt, pepper, and garlic base for a rub. I'm not knocking Dizzy Pig or anything like that. Great rubs and great owner. I should have gone with different rub profile from the start. My fault.

  • Going to pick up my wife's car that has been in the shop for 6 weeks for hail damage.  It has been a beating waiting for it to get finished.  Insurance estimate was 9K.  Final bill.  14.5K  Needless to say.  Its pretty much a new car now.

  • Its 2 years since it was installed, I "sold it to myself" when I was an HVAC salesman. It's a trane XV variable speed system.

    Leak/restriction usually = bad install.

The install is usually more important than the equipment in regard to reliability.

Anything variable speed with an inverter needs to have some power (surge, etc) protection.

All the above is my opinion.

  • They put 3 pounds in it. I agree the install is of utmost importance,  I disappointed it came to this so early in my system life.

did they dump and go,or do a leak check?..........check for for oil residue on the indoor sections drain pan.....indoor coils are the achilles heel for leaks....if not it is install related ( possibly ) but it will not fix itself

  • They checked for a leak with a sniffer all inside and outside. Only then did they add refrigerant from the charge chart. I told them to get the approved dye and fire it up, let's not chase a leak let's find it.
