@ColtsFan Sorry for your loss. Pets are family too and losing them is hard.
@Dyal_SC I know you lost a pet recently. My condolences to you as well.

Sorry to hear this.  It's tough.  We had a similar situation with our 1 year old Bernese Mountain dog last year.

I was always taught that copper cooking vessels needed to be lined with an inert material on the interior cooking surface (like the classic "tinned" copper pots) to be food safe.
Oddly, when I was TDY to Ankara, Turkey, we were warned not to purchase the beautiful copper cookware offered in the open-air markets, as they were lined with solder, half-lead!
I did buy a small saucepot that I really liked, with a bronze handle, but it hangs in my kitchen on a nail.   :)

Sh!tty night. One of our dogs suffered a medical event and passed away. He was 13 years old. Thankfully it happened very quickly and we were home with him. He passed in SWMBO's arms.

This seems to be a thing that a lot of us here have recently experienced. Sucks

    RIP Sir Bentley Seger

That hurts, I know.  Hang in there.  It's amazing how attached we can become to these little guys. They really do become a part of the family.

@ColtsFan saying goodby is never easy.  I had to put my best buddy down a few years ago.  The vet came to the house , we sat on the kitchen floor and I fed him Cindy's pound cake while crying like a baby until he drifted off.

I'm sure your buddy had a better life than most people do.

Hmm, you got my curiosity up, and the melting point of solder is between 180 and 850, certainly within cooking range.  Either:
    1.  They were only sold to tourists,
    2.  The Air Force was wrong,
    3.  They are being poisoned, or
    4.  Turks eat at McDonald's
I dunno; this was back in the 80's, maybe we were still using lead in our water infrastructure back then too.

There's a big steam rally at Lincoln every August, so me and Dom went down to have a look at all of the old stuff. These are just a few of the steam engines - one stationary, one road roller and one traction engine - selected because they were made by a company called Marshall that was based in our town of Gainsborough.

Aw man, that really brings back memories!  There was a town in South Dakota that held a "Threshing Bee" every fall, and had all kinds of these old machines, running, and demo-ing all the old processes.  My Dad brought me and his Dad to it one year, and I've never seen Grandpa looking like a little kid like that, he really enjoyed it.  They had blacksmithing, sawyering and horse-shoeing demonstrations, too.
By the end of the day we were hot, sweaty, smelled of coal fumes and had wheat chaff stuck in our clothing, great fun.
