Spent the last 2 days at a Honda dealership. The 2016 certified Honda I just got 4-5 months ago the paint started peeling on the back of the hood and when I took it to another dealership to look at they said the back glass wasn’t factory and the top of the car had been painted and many spots on the car had been blended and none of this was on the carfax. It was a little bit of a pain but the original dealer  ended up letting me trade it back in so I decided to go new this time and got a 2019 EX-L.The picture doesn’t really do it justice but it’s a metallic pearl. Hope I don’t have to go to a dealership for a long time.
Good deal with the dealership taking it back. That says something about your dealer. They could have easily said that's your issue now and not traded it back in.

My friend traded in his Mazda for something like $1,800 at the delaer. The dealer relisted it for $7,500. The car was ticking time bomb. Definitely need to take some time and look over used cars at dealers. They're always taking in trade in and buying auction cars. Hard for even the dealer to catch everything before it's listed and parked in the lot.

carfax has got to be the biggest gimmick ive seen in a long time and theres no way dealerships are doing the certified 120 something point inspections from what ive seen.  hope they gave you a bigger break than just a trade up to new, just paying the taxes on two cars in 4 months would piss me off big time. sharp looking car

They took the old one as a trade so I only had to pay taxes on the difference. And they dropped $5k off the sticker on the new one. I agree the Honda certified says like 182 point inspection but I had a running light out, a clip was broken on the spoiler and the 2 sided tape wasn’t sticky anymore so you could pull the end of the spoiler off, there were a couple broken clips around the stereo, and the little tension spring holders in the cup holder were broken and it was a certified car. They fixed it all after but I’m pretty sure they are just slapping the Honda certified on cars and not doing much inspecting.  Just glad I got out from that car without losing much and this new car is really nice. My insurance dropped $20 a month from all the new safety crap it has.

This car was a so called certified so it should have been caught. I agree though I think I made it out pretty good. They tried to give me the trade in value of the car at first but they ended up coming up to almost what I paid for it.

sounds like you did good.  massachusetts gave me back 25 bucks from a 1666 dollar tax bill for the hummer i rolled after 11 days, bastards.  looked at a carfax for a truck, no accidents and there was bondo a half inch deep and the doors on the passenger side didnt open, it passed the inspection as well.  just new gimmicks to sell cars

Slightly different prices in the UK, but I am almost certain that second hand dealers 'self-insure'.  They give the car the once over and drive it a mile down the road,  add the 'warranty' and wait for issues to be reported.
The vast majority of purchasers will be taken in by the shiny bits, 'special offers' and 'warranty'  - then won't want the hassle of fighting with the dealer.

Nice Honda though, well done fella.
Other girls may try to take me away

    That sucks!

That's exactly the reason I won't use PVC inside the house.

Contemplating trading my truck in.  I've got a 2015 sierra 1500 and just had to take it in to get some work done.  The cylinder 6 valve spring and lifter broke.  Only have 44k miles on it.  Learning that this was the first engine that GM built to do the 8 to 4 cylinder for better fuel economy.  Apparently there is a compression issue and they are seeing this issues more and more.  Local dealer said they hadn't seen it happen on one with that low of miles.  My warranty is up in December.

@milesvdustin Water damage truly sucks.  Must have been some sort of alignment issue to stress that fitting.
Another sleeper water damage source-hoses and fittings to your clothes washer.  Unfortunately a good friend learned about that one the hard way.
Check your homeowner's insurance-you likely have some sort of post-deductible coverage.  FWIW-

One of our neighbors had her house cleaner start a load of laundry when she’s was out of town and one of the hoses or fittings failed. Our laundry is on the 2nd story and her whole house flooded and most of the house was stripped down to the studs. She lived in an extended stay for 5 months. Crazy how much damage water can do quickly.

Screw the homeowners insurance. I will fix the plumbing myself and install new floors. I'm not paying a 1k deductible and then have my rates Jack up over 2k in flooring. I'm gonna eat this one myself lol.

Anyone have opinions on pergo xp laminate or trafficmaster? Or anything lowes sells?

Only thing I can add you might already know but make sure you get one that is rated for an area where spills can happen. The old owners of our house put in some that were not rated for kitchen or bath and they would swell if a spill wasn’t cleaned up right away.

My friends parents had a new house cleaning company come in and clean the house. One of the cleaning ladies forgot to turn off a heat lamp in a bathroom they never used. The wiring must have been caked with dust over the years of never being used. Add that with old insulation in the attic where the heat lamp was located and you got yourself a problem. His parents were fortunate to wake up in the middle of the night and notice their bathroom was on fire. 7 different city fire trucks came to put out the fire. They were able to save most of the structure of the house but the water damage ruined majority of stuff. They were out of the house for almost a year.

I'm fortunate that I only had water in the kitchen and dining area.

Unfortunate that the laminate is no longer made, so I'm replacing all of it in the house

@saluki2007 I have a 15 Sierra as well. I’m at 70k, but it has a 100k warranty. My little brother is a mechanic, says they’re seeing these more frequently but most are above 80-100k. I’m hoping we can pay off the wife’s Jeep before I hit the 100k, then it’s heading straight for the trade in lot.

That's kind of what I'm hearing.  I bought mine in December of 14 so I won't be hitting the 100k portion of the warranty just the 5 year.  It sounds like they got the compression ratios figured out in the 18 model and really dialed in on the 19.  1 major upgrade for the 19 model (maybe in the earlier ones too) is that there are actually air vents for the back now.  The floor vents in the 15 don't do squat for the rear passengers.

    Awesome!  Congrats.  Which agency?
