Trying to start my tractor. Piece of junk

I've been helping out over at the local community college with a small engine class. They shoot brake cleaner in the carbs to turn over the engines. Must be cheaper or have a ton of it.
Yeah that’s an old shade tree mechanic trick. The problem is that brake cleaner is a solvent and will pull the oil off of the wall of the combustion chamber. This will give you a dry start. No bueno. They really shouldn’t be teaching folks the wrong way to do something.
That's interesting. It's all donated engines or scraped motors from the community. Kids need to tear down the motor and put it back together. A shot of brake cleaner to prove it will turn over when completed. That's interesting about pulling oil off the wall.

Points look fine, gap is good. It's not flooding out, has good spark. It will sputter on starting fluid. I drove the damn thing yesterday.

@bgebrent the groceries look great but you may want to go easy on the grape if pounding the brown water.  LEO for sure and escape velocity close-by.  Enjoy the banquet and follow-on flight plan  B)

Thanks Cap.  The Jordan is actually a finishing olive oil Jordan vineyards produces.  The KC on the other hand was in the glaze and the glass.  Cheers.

If I remember correctly the 8N, 9N and NAA Jubilee has a front or side mount distributor option. Makes a difference on the points.

No real relevance here other me trying to remember back to my parts store days 😂

Made one of those Spanish tortilla de patatas tonight. Was very tasty and will make again. Do need to buy a bigger plate tho as the largest plate I had is about an inch in diameter smaller than the skillet. Flipping onto plate went better than expected - only lost a couple potato slices.

Not mention most people over do it, burn a valve on just set the engine on fire. Much better plan is to see why there is no fuel in the charge air mixture.

Check that spark again, with points it can look good but still not be hot enough. The other ck is timing. Like Alaska said. You need the big three. One of them is missing.

    Fuel, fire and timing.

I'd check the sediment bulb make sure you're getting fuel to carb. If so, tap side of carb with a screw driver handle, maybe needle and seat are stuck

Just left a town meeting about my neighbor kid who's getting out of prison. We get to welcome back a level 3 sex offender into the neighborhood. Hurray. I've been fortunate to have never met or seen the jacka*s in the 8 years of living here in the neighborhood. I think it helps there's a police officer on top of his a*s next door. Fun times for everyone.
