Still house shopping. I am amazed at the housing market in Bloomington. I can get a home comparable to this for 300k 15-20 minutes down the road without the $7500/year property tax

At least around metro Atlanta, housing prices are dictated by the school system more than anything. If you buy in a good school district, you’ll always come out ahead. You can get nice houses in okay school districts but you aren’t going to do as well in the long run.

That’s how it is around the Baltimore/Washington metro area too.  My house in Howard County (one of the best school districts in the nation) would cost 2.5x what we spent for it.  Even if we were zoned for better schools in Baltimore County, it would probably have cost an extra $100-150k.

When we were house shopping a coworker said “You’re going to pay for school here.  Either tuition or in your mortgage/property taxes, but you’re going to pay for it.”

Went to Costco at lunch ...cause well it's Friday and it's what I do. Picked up some St.Louie ribs and avocados. Stumbled into the KJ road show.
I have already decided that the next addition will be another XL but decided to talk to the guy anyway. Inquired about purchasing the floor model and was told they no longer discount them but if I bought the floor model he would throw in a bag of KJ lump.
He also told me that all of the BGE guys are switching to KJ.
Do I need to sell the EGG and switch? I mean it's important to be on the cool team and all.
DUDE!!!  You have an entire bag of KJ lump hanging in the balance!!
Sell and Switch!!!  What are you waiting for?!?!?!?

Just pulled some lamb ribs out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow. Intended to pull them out when I got home then decided to blow the leaves before the rain.

Our exact house sells for $125k more than we paid for ours in a neighborhood 3 miles closer to town. We went house hunting the other day cause we would like to move closer to the town where we live. It’s getting that way everywhere not just college towns. Houses in this area are selling for about $100k more than they should be because we have azzholes moving here from California artificially inflating the housing market. They come here and get in bidding wars and all the sudden a house that was $275k a year ago now is going for $375k and still needs to be remodeled. They were living in LA in a 800sqft townhouse and they sold it for $800k. They come here and can get a 4500sqft house on an acre lot for $600k.

It's a bubble. People get pushed out of the expensive areas and move to 'cheap' areas, where they distort the market. Once the bubble bursts, these will be the ones that get burned when they find out the real value of their house. Does nobody in charge care about inflation any more?

Got a bit of a runaway brisket going on.  17.8 lb. trimmed 4.8lbs if fat.  Could’ve taken more.  A little over three hours in, and it’s already at 153.   I’m gonna wrap it soon

Wow, sucks when people that make more money than you make drive up prices.

    And from California!

    So terribly "artificial".

@tarheelmatt @bgebrent VA doesn’t have early voting.  Do your States also do early results reporting?  Does the electorate know, going into Election Day, who is leading?
