@Eggcelsior - glad to read about the shoe tying experience. When my two kids were growing up, no velcro strap shoes til they could tie their shoes and no digital watch or alarm clock til they could read an analog watch-face.

Lunch/supper on the 14 WSM sausage cooker. 175 until the color was right, K, and apple chips. Local polska kielbasa, scallion, jalapeno, and a new Boetje's flavor to try.
Son wanted pickled ernyin, neon relish, and mustard. I didn't argue, as long as he didn't go into the fridge for ketchup. The garlicky polska kielbasas were wonderful for an easy meal.

You might get a kick out of this. When my kid was in kindy garten, I brought in all the taco fixings for make-your-own tacos, and corn on the cob.
Well, the smoke alarm went off, and the school had to be evacuated because of me. The kids had a blast though, so I guess there's that. In the second pic below the teacher was trying to fan the smoke detectors. Good times.
