Getting the oil changed in the truck... going on an hour and a half so far.  Should have been less lazy and done it myself.

My friend brought his truck into Jiffy Lube for an oil change. A couple of his high school baseball players worked there. His players told him to never bring his truck in unless they are working that day. If his high school kids can tell something is wrong that's saying something. An hour and a half would have me a little worried.  :o

Working in the area of the October wild fires in Northern California.
The destruction caused by a faulty PG&E transformer is incredible. So many homes, so many people, gone.
RVs stand on property that once had beautiful estates. Builders are charging, and getting, over $750.00/sq ft. to those wishing to rebuild. Many can not.
So many burnt trees still standing.
Folks living in the area listened while propane tanks exploded, the closer the fire got, the louder the explosions. Some had pressure relief valves, others did not. 100s of explosions every day.
The stories from those that survived were amazing.
Then after the fire, gangs of looters came to the area, people had to fight for anything they had left.
    Unreal.
Good report Ron - you hear almost nothing on the news.

The stories that I have heard of the fire and the struggles since the fire, makes me think how lucky I am. I declined an offer to work out here a few years ago.
Just think, as a business owner, those that shared the impact of the fire, told me;1/2 of their sales are gone, and those are the lucky ones. they had their businesses standing after the fire.
Even with 1/2 of the sales evaporating, qualified help is impossible to find.
There was a retirement community of about 1200 mobile homes, a very nice set up, golf course, tennis courts, pools, everything people wanted, which is now gone.
The land that it was setting on will not be redeveloped. Those folks invested everything to live there, and now they have nothing. They have no place to put their replacement homes, they can't afford the land.
There are thousands of other stories like this, which I never thought about, when you see it, and you hear it, man, I just had no idea.
The odd thing about this, is the hills have been cleared out of the underbrush, and the grasses are growing back greening up the hills, that camouflages the destruction, somewhat, but the remnants of burnt basketball goals, and pools still remain where there were once houses and subdivisions.
Cell service is still spotty at best. Towers were torched during the fire, and the requirement to make them look like trees with artificial coverings, which added to their destruction.
Hotels are full of construction people here, when they once housed thousands of tourists doing the wine country tours.
I have not been over to Calistoga, one of my favorite areas, but the drive up Chalk Hill Road has been changed tremendously. It used to be covered with a thick canopy of trees overhead and on either side.
    No more.
It is a wide open drive.

It takes a while to drain, strain, and pour back in.  Give it time.

12 years ago my wife and I lost out on a bid for a house we really wanted to buy.  6 years ago that house was completely destroyed by a tornado.  The only thing left was the foundation.  Makes one take a pause.

    And then this...

There are more pics on the Canon and GoPro I haven't retrieved yet from when we went to a park and they took pictures with friends.

But she's not home yet, and I still can't figure out how my little girl is sixteen...

    Bourbon it is.
Bourbon would make me really not like my daughters beau.  Luckily, she won't date till she is 30.
Keep telling yourself that, I did...
