Thought it might be fun to take things in a slightly different direction. I mean no disrespect, @henapple. Although someone will probably say Tampico and this thread will similarly go nonlinear.
Anyway... in the US for me, it's New York. I love the big city and try to get there at least once a year. Chicago would be a close second (especially in the fall), and I'm also partial to Santa Fe.
Internationally, I've been very fortunate to visit some pretty cool places for work. Barcelona, Vienna, Capri - all very cool places.

Sheridan, WY of course. That's why I live near it.
I would say Denver, CO for a large city.
Any of the beach cities in Orange County are also nice.

Guess I'm pretty much a small town boy. I've visited the NYC area and LA several times, and tho' they were great trips, I was sort of overwhelmed. Chicago is a favorite. I've really enjoyed Portland, OR. Traverse City, MI, during the summer is great.

Though not a city, the NC mountains are my personal heaven on earth. Preferably a cabin (rental for now (damn student loans)) somewhere between Asheville and Boone.

I'm pretty fond of my 2 little spots on the map. Just this side of Mobile, Alabama and the other, just this side of Biloxi, Mississippi. Pretty friendly little places.

@SGH - Physically, I'm not intimidated by anyone old and white. I just get nervous about how they vote. I encourage all old white farts on this forum to not vote. It's all gonna be alright. Have a lovely meat coma - drink some scotch and eat a 28 oz prime ribeye and crank on FOX news, lay back in your easy chair (don't forget your 81 mg aspirin!) and ride the fear-coaster ride!!! Then fall asleep and all will be snuggles and fireplaces and santa.

Ok, ok, ok. I'll stop being political. I'll be a sheep and bleet BBQ wisdom and my usual science based pragmatism that everyone hates. I'm not a slave to fashion.
