I hope his fireplace is well insulated as any heat coming up from it would not be good for the whiskey in those bottles. I've only had a couple of scotches but I've heard good things about FG. Please share your thoughts on it when you've cracked her open.

I'm sure he doesn't use that fireplace at all, he seemed pretty knowledgeable about alcohol.
I finished it and I like it, the reviews on the internet say extremely smooth but horrible taste. I didn't find the latter to be true, it is the smoothest scotch I've ever had and the taste is good to me. I will be buying this myself one day soon.

Derby week here so time to break out the juice:
Flown in from Japan a few years ago as fish oil thru the USPS (lucky me).  (One of those foreign only access deals and why we get screwed):
No chance I read that but in English on the label "Unfiltered,  uncut and bottled straight from the barrel."
For that level of proof it is quite smooth.  I will likely never get another bottle as the window of opportunity is closed for now.   I am glad I have it in the stable ( great writing...).

@ColbyLang without even looking, knowing the price point for the above I will pass.  But I appreciate your offering.

Pretty cool site.  They have some stuff I’ve never seen on the shelves before.   Prices aren’t terrible either.

I looked as I wondered after the above regarding prices.
Gotta admit they are below those offered in the museum liquor stores around here (so labeled for since their prices are so high-but likely scoring a killing with the Derby weekend).

This is excellent. Bought a backup. They put out an expensive one a few years ago called copper tongue which was horrible IMO. This one is top notch and worth the spend IMO. 🥃

I saw that earlier this week, 2 versions, not bad price points but left them on the shelf.    Will revisit next week.

Here's the MSRP of some Sazerac stuff at the distillery. EH Taylor small batch on that site is almost $100 over that.

Yep-I hold out for the above prices and have been able to find them before running on empty on any of the above and a few more.
However, the secondary market is ever expanding and given the demand I don't see a change.  F' me comes to mind.
Local horse race tomorrow that helps with the archival price points.

I have gifted this bottle many times, but never actually tried it.  Decided to crack on open tonight and must say, it is pretty gosh darn good.

You can always switch to vodka. Handle is under $20. 😁

i need to live where you do, Tito’s is distilled 2hrs up the road and the price is now $32.    Guess I could pick up New Amsterdam or Tower for lesser.

I prefer Reyka Vodka.  Good price and a personal favorite of mine.  Granted, I don't have much a palate for Vodka, but of the vodkas I have had Reyka punches well above it's weight class.
