I agree @lousubcap, it’s one of my favorites. Of course it along with some other brands aren’t easy to find around town these days.

Unfortunately, it’s all about connections and making a connection once in the liquor store. My local honey hole has a barrel pick ER that hasn’t hit the shelf ever. Select customers can purchase just by asking. I’ve also been able to get a regular eagle rare and BT on vacation simply by asking the clerk if there was anything I was missing out on.

Guy on YouTube was told by a rep that the bundling scheme was isolated and the guy doing that was terminated but I know from personal experience that is is wide spread and SOP for most. I mostly blame the distributor as they put the store owners in an untenable position of accepting swill they can’t sell as a condition for consideration for the rare stuff. In most states the liquor distribution world is quite smarmy IMO. Not necessarily the individual people but the rather the machine. It’s largely if not totally a fixed game. 

It’s also lead to the death of many a micro brew. They will go in and strong arm the bar or restaurants with threats of removal of all their name brands. Hard to fight the giants.

It’s wonderful and, from memory, from Oregon.   Used to love Deschutes.    It was one of of the first IPAs I recall that went outside the box and added actual fruit juice.

It's my go to if I want a consistent fresh tasting IPA. Reasonably priced and readily available. I love craft beer and there are absolutely better IPA's out there, but for a daily i'd definitely recommend it.

We lived in Novato years ago ('92-'97), our first house was there and all of our kids were born there.  Great smallish town when we lived there, I hope she enjoys it.

@legume sorry missed your response, but yest Novato seems like a nice place to "enter" into the brutal CAL/SF area house market.  They rented in Mill Valley before buying this place.  They take advantage of all the nature perks (gravel biking / hiking / ski) so they love it.  

My sister is wine maker in Russian River / Sonoma Valley . . . so she knows the Russian River Brewing folks, they actually dropped off a case of this stuff to her winery!  It was good, but crazy how much the "PLINY THE YOUNGER" goes for aftermarket . .

@NDG we also rented in Mill Valley before we bought in Novato.  Long time ago, but it was a fun area to live right after getting married.  So much to do there.

Sazerac suing their distributor. From what I read somewhere, not sure if it's here or another article, but Sazerac blames them for the lack of their bourbon in stores
