i can’t speak to Kwanzaa but it’s a pet peeve of mine when it comes to Christmas.    There is a specific reason why it is called that and the letter X is not involved.

I’ll get off a Christian soapbox now.

I don’t want to muck up this great thread and you can dislike it all you want but if you read the link, which I doubt you did, this isn’t the crime you think it is.

Going to be doing some blind tastings over Christmas break with my BIL. So I figured I better open some of the unopened ones and let them breathe before the showdowns, at least that’s what I’m telling myself.

That is a great find. I would give serious thought to offering that up in a blind tasting as it is extremely hard to sight much less buy around here.  But like any bourbon (or other beverage) it is all in the taster,  Enjoy!
It’s interesting to see how the allocated and hard to find bottles compare against more accessible bottles in a blind. Have you thought what others you would include in the blind?
I actually have 3 days/sessions lined up. For this one it will be Weller SR, Weller 12yr and Weller Full Proof.
As you well know, the full proof will be an obvious outlier but that is a great lineup.  Looking forward to the remaining two sessions.
    Above all, have fun.
Agree but thought it would be fun to pit them against each other. This is the tentative lineup.

You have a… spreadsheet for this?
You don’t know me very well…
We talkin Google or Excel here?
Excel. I enjoy making them. I also sent a copy to my BIL to review and make any changes.  What was I supposed to do, write it down on a piece of paper and mail it to him…
Well if you put it on a Google sheet you could just share it with him and you wouldn’t have to email a copy back and forth.

Day 2 with the ECBP will be nice. I have A and B but I’m missing C from this year. I’m not sure if it’s FOMO or my OCD that has me most bothered for not having the full set this year

Killing cask strength or full proof bottles can be fraught with danger. One time I woke up some 6-8 hours later and had no idea how or when I lost consciousness. 😁🥃

So you have a problem with the word Christmas?  Xmas is lame.  Christ was the reason for the season.  Not X. Wokeism with an Athiest background. Yes this is a crime.

    Merry Christmas to all.

Two ways of saying the same thing, for example I could call you an idiot, or an imbecile.  These kind of rules, created by people, about God, are nothing more than arrogant, judgy behavior toward other people. Find something meaningful to wrap you around the axle.

Had some shelves put in for the bourbon:

I just got a bottle of that Angels Envy as a gift. Not really available yet in Canada ... but my friend is an importer, and is about to start stocking our shelves here.

Angel’s Envy is my go to when everything else (store offerings) seems pedestrian.   It’s become a mainstay now and never fails to satisfy—at least for me and my buddies.

Ok this was my initial doing so I will take responsibility.

Yes, I understand Greeks use X (although most Greeks I know do not).

America does not have an “official” language, however most speak English.   In the English language there are clearly shortcuts.   Xmas is a short cut.

If Xmas was an acceptable short cut every Christian church would use it (if nothing else to save money) but they don’t.

Not on a rant but come on, how much more time does it take to type Christmas vs Xmas.   He is right, Christ is the reason for Christmas...to each their own.

This seems like a strange battle to fight in the middle of a thread focused on adult beverages.  I’m just saying…

Nobody is stopping Christians from using the full word.  Who gives a sh!t about what shortcut non-Christians use?  They don’t believe in the big JC anyway.  Is trying to convince them to type another five letters really going to change that?

This is why we can’t have nice things.  Because people get worked up about stuff other people do, even if it doesn’t affect them.
