OK- I've sobered up but am already headed the other way so I'd better hurry. Nora's is awesome and very reasonably priced for Vegas. It's not much to look at but can be a very welcome respite in a sea of poser places (which I also love). Now for the poser places: Tao in the Venitian. Awesome Chinese Fusion/Sushi and a total scene late night. get there early if you don't want to eat in a club setting. It's actually a gorgeous restaurant and a great place to eat but they get weird (aka- really good) at around 10 or 11 pm. Red Square- Mandalay Bay- Food is good but it's know for the drinks. The bar is a frozen block of ice to keep your vodka cold. They have a vodka vault where you put on WW2 era Russian sable coats and hats and go into a freezer that is 20 below to drink vodka shots. Good times if you are a reprobate such as myself. Bartolatta at the Wynn- This is a gorgeous restaurant with unbelievable food. paul Bartolatta is from MIlwaukee and owns several killer places there. He was on iron chef (lost to Marimoto I think) but that propelled him to fame and Steve Wynn brought brought him in. Awesome place and as super high end places in vegas go, it's a little off the beaten path. Mostly seafood but great steaks too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by Centex. Now for the famous chef spots that everyone knows about: Charlie Palmer's at the 4 seasons (Mandalay Bay), Carnevino at Palazzo is unreal (200 day dry aged steak). Craft Steak and Strip Steak are fantastic as well. L'Atelier by Joel Robechon is crazy good and is like disney land for food. Crazy flavors and presntations. Really cool (crazy expensive but everything mentioned above is as well). If you like (or even think you might like) sushi, NOBU is insanely good. Super hip, crazy high end sushi. You can spend $300 here and leave hungry Such a great place and a must visit for any sushi lover. There are tons of great dive spots and I've eaten at most of the places mentioned above too- all good. Vegas is awesome for food and drink so dig in and enjoy. If I think of any other good ones i"ll chime in again but looks like you are going to be busy with all the recommendations on here.Try a little place called NORA's. Great food, inexpensive, and they give you way too much to eat.
Great deal.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -

Was watching iron chef just now before bed and one of the judges is a food critic from Vegas he has a great list of reviews on his website http://www.eatinglv.com/archive-by-hotel/

Bouchon @ The Venetian is excellent. Thomas Keller's place. Expensive but awesome.-----------I feel a whole lot more like I do now than I did when I got here.

CTX, surely you have had the aged bone in ribeye at nine's (the palms). the best i have had at a restaurant, and i have been to many in LV. not hugo's though.
no one has mentioned the golden steer; very good, and as old school vegas as you can get.
the four kegs used to be the best place for wings; it is not anymore. it is a neighborhood dive bar with bar food, nothing special.

Cen Tex has got it right. NORA'S is great.

First time in three years sans enfants deserves top shelf, IMHO. One of my top dining experiences - ever - was at Joel Robuchon in the MGM Grande. It's definitely $$$, but it was a truly ethereal experience. $100 corkage fee, which, if you bring your own personal bottle of wine may save you a few bills. I still dream about this meal.....

$100 corkage fee? Good Lord. Paid a $5 corkage fee Friday night.

True. But - and I admit that it is all relevant here - bring in a very nice $150 bottle of wine and pay the $100. You would find the same wine for about $400 on the menu.
As I inferred, this is one of Vegas' top dining destinations. I think they do a wallet biopsy at the door.... Been there once. It's now off my bucket list.

Try this for breakfast or brunch. You won't be hungry for lunch.Hash House a Go GoThis place has a unique twist on breakfast items, that turn out really good. It's a family favorite. Do a Google search and check out the reviews everywhere. They are really well reviewed.

I don't know what you are implying, but I can neither confirm nor deny anything. Your guidance in Vegas is largely responsible for my 48 Hour Vegas Rule (plane to plane). I am considering a 24 Hour Vegas Rule as I think back to that Palms trip. Carry on.lakewade said:The Cen-Tex Smoker said:I have not. The only time I stayed at the Palms was for a bachelor party. Legendary. I still laugh about your cab ride to the airport. I have not darkened the door of the palms since. I keep hoping the memories will fade. They have not.

Quite possibly my favorite steak in Vegas was at a place called STK, I'm pretty sure it was in the cosmopolitan. Not cheap - but I had an absolutely fantastic ste ak there with a blue cheese crust, and an awesome bottle of vino....Another GREAT meal is at KOI, assuming you're a sushi fan.Emeril's New Orlean's Fish House in the MGM grand is really wonderful.Japonais in the Mirage is a super meal, and really convenient if you wanna go for dinner - then to Beatle's Love (a really great Cirque show). As you can see.... I've spent more than my fair share of money on Vegas meals. The strip is really quite expensive (eating and drinking anyways), but it really does showcase some top quality fine-dining restaraunts.[Insert clever signature line here]

I took my wife to Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris last month for our anniversary. It was, without a doubt, the best meal i have ever had in my life. the wellington was amazing, as was the mac and cheese.

So a fantastic time was had! SWMBO pretty much decided she didn't want to leave the Bellagio. We ended up with dinner at Piccaso the first night it was amazing table outside right by the fountains. Ended up finishing at the Bar Kirby the bartender was great. 2nd night we ended up at Sensi which was also good. The Bellagio brunch at Jasmine on a Sunday is a great way to start bottomless bubbly is just plain dangerous though ! Thanks everyone for your suggestions.Lynnwood WA

That's generally the way Vegas works. There is so much to do in the good hotels, there is no reason to leave. It's almost like they did that on purpose ) Glad you had a good timeKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
We stay away from the strip and have found many good places.
If you like Thai food, try Lotus of Siam. They have a weekday small buffet which is top quality. They also have a great menu for lunch or dinner. Their web page is:

For casino food, we like Red Rock Casino. Their buffet is very good and we also like their Italian Restaurant named Terra Rossa

If you are planning on being in Vegas in early November, here is a place to be...Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!
