Agreed with this:With the ships getting struck in the straight of Hormuz, does anyone think that if the world spent the last 53 years since the last oil embargo in 1976, developing nuclear energy, renewable energy, vast mass public transportation, so no developed nation would be hopelessly dependent on a small geographical location? That would have solved many of the world’s problems, but here we are again and again, and frankly, we are stuck in it now.
Of course if many people, including some on this forum, had just made better choices in vehicle purchases it would also have helped. I am glad that you included nuclear in that mix. -
Give it to the gas station or the power company, your battery car doesn’t run on fairy dust. I’d rather go to sheetz than the local BP, gas is cheaper there. You can’t do that when you charge your car at home. My shop is on its own meter, electric fence, barn lights and a refrigerator. 10 years ago the power company charged me $35. Now it’s $80 a month. Can I shop for power companies with lower rates? No.Gulfcoastguy said:Agreed with this:With the ships getting struck in the straight of Hormuz, does anyone think that if the world spent the last 53 years since the last oil embargo in 1976, developing nuclear energy, renewable energy, vast mass public transportation, so no developed nation would be hopelessly dependent on a small geographical location? That would have solved many of the world’s problems, but here we are again and again, and frankly, we are stuck in it now.

Battery cars have their place but they aren’t versatile enough for mainstream America. Of course I think that is pretty obvious.South of Columbus, Ohio.

Solar systems are very prevalent as well as home owner wind turbines. I am not saying we would be off grid like Grizzly Adams, but light rail, as they have in most of the EU and Asia would save much as well.alaskanassasin said:

I’m all for electric, where it makes sense. Choices of vehicles are highly, if not entirely, dependent upon personal circumstances. If you know your fellow forum members’ driving habits, local infrastructure, climates, budgets, jurisdictional rebates, etc. well enough to know what would have made “better choices” to suit their individual needs, then you’re probably missing out on a very, very lucrative career in car sales (and/or sorcery, possibly).Gulfcoastguy said:Agreed with this:With the ships getting struck in the straight of Hormuz, does anyone think that if the world spent the last 53 years since the last oil embargo in 1976, developing nuclear energy, renewable energy, vast mass public transportation, so no developed nation would be hopelessly dependent on a small geographical location? That would have solved many of the world’s problems, but here we are again and again, and frankly, we are stuck in it now.

Why follow the law when you’ll just get pardoned?
“WASHINGTON — Embattled Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s top aide and alleged lover Corey Lewandowski bragged that he could do “whatever” he wanted as a powerful federal official because he believed President Trump would pardon him, The Post has learned.“

Also, imagine having a boss who is so ill tempered that he would fire you for not wearing shoes he gifted you - even when you look like a toddler in daddy’s shoes?

At least now it is clear why the King decided to go to war - he apparently wanted to make billions for his buddy Putin and help him fund his war with Ukraine. Interesting that this is happening, I’m sure it has nothing to do with his Russian bride nor the hack and stealing of the unredated Epstein files by a foreign actor in 2023.

https://www.themirror.com/news/politics/marco-rubio-pictured-145-trump-1731450I can’t figure out why Rubio and Friends didn’t just buy another pair of Florsheims that fit. The only reason I can come up with is that Trump purposely gave them shoes that didn’t fit to test their loyalty.

He probably assumed their ankles and stuff swell if they stand for a few minutes, so he was thinking about their health and comfort. Or he likes seeing people in shoes too big for their feet? Probably looks like a bunch of little kids all running around him.DoubleEgger said:Ozzie_Isaac said:Also, imagine having a boss who is so ill tempered that he would fire you for not wearing shoes he gifted you - even when you look like a toddler in daddy’s shoes?

New news to the American public. Old news to the Epstein class, Russia, and China. Apparently if you are rich enough everyone and everything is there for your amusement. We are all just toys for them to play with until they get bored or they break the toy. Then they throw money at it and go find another toy to break.YukonRon said:Just saw this. Genesis 14-16 says, “Whenever I bring clouds over the earth, and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life
