I am curious on your solar setup. A solar sales guy told me that if I had 2 electric vehicles, that even in the summer, I could cool my house (maybe 3500sq total) and charge both vehicles and still be selling electricity back to the power company. You have more solar than would fit on my roof. If you just acquired the cybertruck, I would like to know how it works out charging/solar wise.JohnfromKentucky said:

I drove one of those. It was the best handling ground vehicle I'd ever driven. The steering yoke was beautifully harmonized. While being expensive, of limited utility, and incredibly ugly, at least it drives very, very nicely. I hope that you can use it fully.Somewhere on the Colorado Front Range

That’s ok, it’s not for everyone. My wife thought it was ugly too, but she has come around. 😀johnmitchell said:@JohnfromKentucky. With all due respect I just can’t get my mind around this vehicle -
So I now have 2 Teslas. Got the model Y prior to the solar panels, so have almost 3 years with solar. We are all electric, no gas. Yeah, we have more panels than needed right now, but we can grow into them if needed. 1900 sqft house. We have to maintain a connection to the grid as we do not have battery backup. ROI is around 9 years. This is our forever home so thinking after retirement.kl8ton said:

Meter runs backwards when they are collecting sunlight. Started with 99999 and am now at 94807 as of 04/01 (I have been keeping track in my notes). We haven’t had to adjust anything…run the heat when we want and same with AC. We have been charging the Y every night. Just got that Cybertruck and so don’t have any real info yet on it charging but I am sure it’s not much. Our monthly bill is $16. We have never owed anything more since solar install -
We have a local sales/installer who is awesome. Honest and cheapest quote Didn’t push anything.Ozzie_Isaac said:

I agree, love it. 4 wheel steering is awesome. This vehicle is incredible. The looks on outside is a love it or hate it but I don’t care, I love it. with the $7500 tax credit, $1000 vet discount, and $1000 loyalty credit (have a model Y too), the price came down to $72K, which put it in line for your GMC and other top end trucks. My buddy paid. $80K for a raptor and i feel that I got the better deal. We plan on taking it camping and road trips. We also have a cabin in the woods to go visit

9 years seems like a long time to recoup your investment. I doubt they figured in the opportunity cost of your initial investment invested elsewhere. What is the life expectancy of the panels including related components and what are their failure rates? Seems like a panel or two going bad would put you underwater from a ROI standpoint for quite some time.
-
We had over bought solar on our FL home because we thought it was our forever home and I wanted a Tesla before changing my mind and getting an Alpha. The return on investment was actually amazing. You don’t pay taxes on $ you don’t spend on electric and our warranty covered 25 years of service. We also made 100% of the cost back when we sold. Would have installed again in TX but electricity is so inexpensive here it would not have made sense.

Audi's display told me to replace the battery in my key fob. Went to the dealership, told the Parts guy what I needed, and an Audi repair guy overheard me and said I could get a free battery from the Service desk (had paid for the battery last time); don't know why they have that discrepancy.
Anyway, as I was walking out I glanced into the VW showroom and There She Was: a VW id Buzz!

I didn't even have a chance to walk up to it before a newer salesman was down my throat, asking what color I wanted and did I have a tradein? I wish that dealership would tell their green sales guys to relax and back off a bit (not even the second time that's happened there).
I did ask to sit in it while trying to fend off his questions; not exactly my beloved '77 Bus I had in Albuquerque! Despite its size it was a little shy for driver's legroom. Huge sunroof, that photovoltaicly darkens, kinda cool. I know eventually I will be replacing my truck/convertible combo with some kind of single SUV; this really caught my eye when it was introduced but still quite overpriced."First method of estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him."

Not to mention it’s made in Germany. That means no tax credit and likely a tariff. The local Stealership had a blue and white one but also had it marked up 8K above sticker.Botch said:Audi's display told me to replace the battery in my key fob. There are a few of these out in the wild around my house. I had a '68 I believe. I was 16 or 17. I crashed my car and had to sell the wrecked car plus my bus to afford another car.Botch said:Audi's display told me to replace the battery in my key fob. I had to google the MSRP: around $67k? Definitely overpriced. VW is looking to make a killing on nostalgia.Gulfcoastguy said:

They have slightly cheaper ones but they are a single color, usually solid gray or black. That kills the nostalgia, it looks like a delivery van. Another problem is it weighs at least 1400 pounds more than my ID4 but has the same size battery. As you can imagine the range drops.JohnInCarolina said:

Tickets to Paris. Wife’s family has a long-standing tradition of trips for kids on their eleventh birthday. Daughter has been to France, but missed Paris while my wife and I broke away from the familial unit during a trip to La Loire valley (highly recommend!), when we visited Paris as a duo. We’re going to surprise my daughter with tickets to Paris for her eleventh birthday in a few weeks. 😆😆😆 Can’t wait. It’s her number one destination (and she’s been fortunate enough to travel a lot; not my experience as a kid).
