    my fema policy was rising 25 percent a year til they met a certain unknown goal....when it got up to 8 grand a year i bailed and bought a loyds policy for under a grand for the same coverage. hmmmm. you can buy a policy for an under sea level place in new orleans that regularly floods for a way lot less than sebago lake maine that never floods. my fema policy went from no coverage needed for a loan to the highest zone last time fema updated zoning maps
    fukahwee maine

    I wonder if the increases were to eliminate subsidies.

    I was forced to buy a flood policy years ago d/t a storm drainage/creek flooding a few years before I bought the house.  In the interim, the government had come in and cleared the brush clogging it and lined it with cement. It took a while, but I was able to argue my way out of a mandatory policy. It was so expensive through the government program. It's always seemed odd to me that standard policies don't cover it - it's like health insurance saying we only cover illness or injury from the waist up.

    I bailed in 2024 after paying for 20 years. I wasn't in a FEMA flood zone yet they kept increasing more than 25% due to house building inflation on top of their standard increases. Then I would have to prove that riding water caused the damage. Add to it the near doubling on car insurance(no accidents in over 20 years) and something had to give.

    one year they changed the zoning map from not in a flood plain....to build an ark incase of flood.

    An executive action can be reversed by another executive action, no congress or judiciary needed. Remember 2021?

    Is this purely political to you, or do you just disagree with protecting the coastlines like this?You drive an EV, right?

    I didn’t say that Trump couldn’t reverse it.  He can, but it’s not as simple as undoing a typical executive order, which the article makes clear.  Heck it’s even suggested right there in the title.

    I disagree with people who don’t dictating where oil can be produced. That way lies hypocrisy.

    @Gulfcoastguy

    are you saying the government shouldn't be able to tell oil companies where they can drill? For public / gov land, or private as well?

    people who don't what?

    what's the hypocritical part?

    I suppose clicking on the link is just too much effort ….
    Oh I clicked on the link.  That’s how I saw it was from PragerU.

    Decades ago you were the guy telling all their buddies it was safe to keep smoking because of the billboard you’d seen on the highway, never bothering to think that maybe the fact Marlboro had sponsored it was a consideration.
