A border town didnt know how to translate beer😆 so friggin friendly.  Don't get me started about the county Mounty on a Maine clam flat telling me what not to do Infront of my house. No complaints about young french girls topless on my beach

1 gallon = 3.78 litres
Current CA price for lowest 87 Octane = 1.47
1 CAD = 0.70 USD
3.78 x 1.47 x 0.70 = 3.89 USD/gallon

@alaskanassasin that happens here too with business mortgages. one of my machine shop condo mortgages gets changed every 5 years and it involves perk tests there as well as perk tests on my other shop property thats owned outright without a mortgage. one year left on the machine shop, hope they let me ride it out without changing it this year. i dont know how ive past the perks on the metal fab shop, its been metal fab going back to the 1800's starting as a blacksmith shop. the city finds horse shoes every time they dig up the street, who knows whats been dumped out there over all those years   not quite a word salad....but close enough

bill comes and theres several hundred dollars on the bill for the wine

we get that removed from the bill but the tax for its still there and so is the tip money figured in for it.

@zaphod Ouch!1.43 was on Dec 21 at night, daytime price is usually three to four cents higher. We don't drive much and getting back $10 for spending $25 once in a while is nice.

$5 here for amazing breakfast burritos that are huge.  We even have people that come to our yard and sell them.

On the south side they are $5.38, larger and better.  This one was easy and close though.  Kind of small and so-so flavor.

that $1.43/l is nice. out here the 10 cheapest in a 30 min drive is 1.84/l to 1.93/l this morning.

That is 6.97 to 7.31 CDN or  4.84 to 5.07 USD  (convert litre to US liq gal and then exchange rate of 1.44). Usually the highest gas prices in North America around here.  Doesn't impact me, but the sticker shock trickles down. Some of my team can't justify driving into work and have moved to public transit for a 60 - 90 minute commute each way.

Our natural gas pricing is about to jump 17% tomorrow.  That one will hit me a bit.

With my bank (pretty sure it's the same everywhere here) Std.  term is 5 year, but you can pick from 1-10 i think. The higher usually carry's higher interest. You can also fix the rate or have it float. Up to 6 months prior to your term you can pick your next term. At this point you can put extra down penalty free or increase your mortgage (consolidate other debts). You can also switch banks at this point. You only need appraisals if you are adding other monies to the mortgage, and this is usually free too. Closing costs are included at the beginning of the mortgage, they don't come after, at least with my bank anyway 

 Thanks for the response @poster. It seems like a system designed to keep you constantly in debt and protect the banks. On the upside I guess people would not sit on their 2.5% mortgage for 30 years limiting the available housing. Again I think the banks are the winners there too. 

Ya, the banks are always gonna win. We can put 10% of the principal extra on penalty free yearly, or opt for an open mortgage and pay extra whenever but then ya the interest rates hike up. I feel sorry for the younger generation now with how high housing prices are and the rates. For what I bought my house for 20 years ago, I could barely renovate my kitchen with that now.

I keep seeing this kind of statement everywhere, and it doesn't make any sense to me.  If a family were not to "sit" on a 2.5% mortgage, they would have to buy/move somewhere else, right?  And if that available housing existed, couldn't the new folks move into that?  
If statistics were out where Empty Nesters were sitting on multi-bedroom housing, and there was an excess of smaller townhomes/apts/retirement villages, then I could understand a statement like that, but I have never seen any such statistics/demographics.  
Just a thought.
