With a little quick Googling, the first US filibuster was used September 22, 1789. With that said, it’s been around long enough to be left alone. In my humble opinion of course.

I can see being ideologically opposed to one candidate or party or another. Admiring just begs the question, what is it you admire about the man?

Coming from that world, I would have been in jail, hell I could still be tossed in jail for disclosing things that have repercussions not even 1/1000th of that.  This is my big hangup.  We have spent trillions of dollars developing our war machine, and he just willy-nilly shows our secrets to enemies over cocktails because it is "cool".  I remember a time when commies were the sworn blood enemy of the USA. When did that change?  I feel like Trump could have got down on his knees and blown Putin while jerking off Kim Jon Un with one hand and Viktor Orbán with the other, and he still would have won.

To me that is an indictment of Kamala and her policies, which are an extension of Bidens.  None of Trumps bad behaviors were hidden, hell he treated them like badges of honor.  The Democrats lost this more than Trump won it.  They lived in their own echo chamber and lost because of it.  They continually discounted all the polls showing Trump in the lead and kept saying it was impossible for him to win.  It is almost like they don't know Americans.

They keep trying to remake America and they think we can be better than we are.  Maybe Americans just don’t want to be or do better.  Maybe they just want their fast cars, loose women, and the easy life.

“Democrats deserve the blame for not understanding how truly despicable the American people are!” is… an interesting position to take.

Honest question, why do you think Harris/The Democratic Machine lost? Maybe you have said it previously here and I missed it. 

I think we have a tendency to want to find one big reason to explain events, regardless of what they are.  It’s just kind of a human thing, to try and simplify a world that’s increasingly complex.  All of that is to say that I think there are lots of reasons why Trump won the election.  I see a lot of people here, on both the right and the left, who are all too eager to chime in and try and say it just confirms one of their priors.  

As I indicated earlier in the thread, my operating assumption for some time has been that Trump was going to win.  I had lots of reasons for this belief, but frankly the main one was that there are lots of people who rightfully see things as being more expensive, and they are blaming the party in the White House for it.  I don’t think that diagnosis on their part is correct, but it seems clear that’s what they believe.  People hate inflation, and they want someone to blame for it.  They have also been sold a bill of goods, because there is nothing in any one of the things Trump is planning to do that will cause prices to come back down to 2020 levels. If anything, what he’s proposing will exacerbate inflation.  

I have a hard time believing that lots of Americans actually support some of the more cruel policies Trump has been advocating, like mass deportation.  But maybe that’s just naïveté on my part.  Time will tell.  

So it seems you are basically telling us it doesn’t matter what party is in place and their policies have little effect on what we are seeing. 

Trump was more business friendly. You simply can’t tax the country into prosperity. Then we have the massive influx of illegal immigrates. We know why they wanted it but you can’t blame Americans for wanting an immigration system that’s fair to everyone else. Even the Latinos here voted in
higher numbers because of this. 

And you will not admit it but many could see how Trump was constantly being attacked by his political opponents with countless lawsuits and made up garbage. When they see how unjustly he was treated they could not stand by and see such an abuse of power. 

The democrats are trying to point fingers and analyze why they lost but they don’t want to change how they treat Americans. Their power and control is all they want. 

I remember being mocked by you resident libs here about how bad people had it and so many were hurting in this economy. Yet even now you won’t take any ownership of why. 

I’m pretty sure you’re the guy who’s been telling us a recession is imminent for (checks notes) … more than a year now?  How’s that working out for you?

You weren’t mocked for saying people were hurting.  You were mocked for making predictions based on solely what you’re seeing in your own (dying) industry.

So why do I admire him? To see his many attributes you don’t need a second glance if your mind is not blind. But to point out a few and in no particular order. 

1. His honesty. ... ummm, wut?

2. His resilience. He never gives up no matter the odds against him. Just look what they have put him through the last 8 years. 

3. He is very pro American.

You guys never stop crying and pushing your agenda and if someone doesn’t agree with it you attack by throwing tantrums or acting like you are better than everyone who didn’t vote with you. A few weeks ago a member posted that it’s great that we supply weapons to kill Russians, I was more of the opinion that war is bad, kids fighting kids and no one wants to be there, so I was accused of “publicly supporting Putin”.  I guess the republicans don’t see a need to push their agenda online and be attacked by a bunch of keyboard cowboys.

the real test will be policy vs popularity contest. when issues come back up to see how people feel about them and whether or not republicans follow.

trump backpedaled on proj 2025 hard.  so he is gonna navigate public opinion, which was largely against project 2025 and its drastic measures, and the people that bought his way back to power. 

government agencies— you don’t have to go far to find waste. there are draconian measures to take and there are success measures to improve. watch to see if recommendations are about “here’s what we fix and how we measure success” like companies that win in the stock market or “here’s all the dumb dumbs we are getting rid of and the plan is have government stop doing anything”.  insert post office opinion here. 

 schools. the problem will be if people are ok with soaring private school funding, access and availability at the expense of public schools funding and quality. is it a long term plan to rid the country of immigration and ensure a large population of poorly educated americans to take their place in the economy?  maybe. sounds like a group of people that want to rest on their laurels and are scared of competing. 

war sucks. endlessly supplying ukraine sucks. the country that started the war is the one all the companies pulled out of.  any interest in stopping the war that sounds like “just redraw the border” and also doesn’t include “rebuild repair” is defeat not compromise.  remember people saying putin was a better christian than biden.  that was unbelievable. 

guns. people that brandish guns to feel more masculine and secure are hiding the same scaredy cat bs that bullies hide. that extreme has to go away.  look at third world countries and toyota tacomas full of armed militia. same emotions as trump trains. j6’ers were conned into believing lies and look what they did. guns are absolutely an asset to our country. gun lust is not.  will we get better or worse there?

so the honeymoon period will get tested soon enough.
