Finally got my parents into their(way) Above 55 cottage. Now to fix up and sell their old house and rental house. Been a stressful month.

Finished(mostly) moving my parents into a cottage in an above 55 community. It was no longer safe to leave them where they were. Dad didn't take it well but the neighbors were already saying things and a meth house around the corner blew up.

Alder smoked liver bites… only the best for my boys. Truth is I get half a liver when I split a steer with my neighbor, and I am not a fan so this has been my solution.

I am quite often the interviewer but in this case I was the interviewee. Looking at taking on a new role within the same company. The good thing about it is, I was asked to “put in” for this new role and while it would be a 15-20% increase, I am perfectly happy and content in my current role.

Have been perusing new sets of tools and have come across some pretty nice pieces. Wiha and Gray allen keys, for instance. Almost too nice to be used. 

Battening down; another wind-shear event predicted for tomorrow/Friday, from the east.  
 
I've seen two of these in the last 29 years here.  First one, about 15 years ago, closed down I-15 (too many tipped semis), and the last one, 4 years ago, I lost 2 1/2 trees and some gutters, power for four days, then a dangerous fire in my back yard when the utility co. turned power back on when power lines behind me were still laying on the ground.  I lost one hedge and then watched the fire burn the wooden fence (which I now call a "fuse") to the north, it kept burning east towards my house, against the wind, and I couldn't spray it with a hose because of the live power lines; that was a frustrating 15 minutes or so.  My neighbor and I installed a chain-link fence in its place the next week.

Last night they were forecasting 50-mph winds in Layton, just south of me.  Now it's 80-mph... 4 years ago the wind hit 99 in my neighborhood.  I've only got four of my eleven trees left; the junipers seem to do okay but I'm worried about losing my last apple tree...

What’s the plan from here? I take it you’ve been reporting to police. 

They reported it to the police, and they are going to come out and talk to them. In the meantime they called att and remotely locked the phone and canceled the service.

I had a laptop and iPad stolen in a smash and grab several years ago, both were bricked within an hour or two of finding out.  Word then was that it was gangs and they were working with a Vietnamese group that filled shipping containers and sent them to Vietnam where they were reimaged and sold.  Read about that ring being broken up by local PDs and FBI a year or two later, but I'm sure that's still a market.
