    It's going to be a sad day for the Arctic environment when the Northwest Passage will be able to be freely traversed by commercial shipping for much of the year in the not too distant future.

    With the disappearance of nearly all crab in the Bering sea, an area that accounts for over 60% of the global seafood, due to the warming of the waters. Crab fishing has been halted by the USA in that area.

    They need colder waters. Kind of the “canary in the mines” indicator.

    Deny it if you must, but there are too many signs indicating we are in crisis.

    Seeing the same in the gulf of Maine, lobsters are moving north and out into deeper waters were they get preyed apon. Green crabs moving up from the south destroying the clam beds. Maine shrimp fishery has been closed down for years now

    You mean the way it has in the past? They find that forest had grown in places ice melted in some places. The earth is ever evolving and always will. It's just too bad that it may inconvenience us humans. 

    You're missing (or perhaps intentionally sidestepping or just ignoring) my point as it pertains to commercial shipping and its likely impact on that particular environment.

    PBS Newshour  update from this evening: barge traffic on the Mississippi River has now been cut by 45%, due to drought/lack of rain.  
    If you're interested at all in how important that traffic is, to the world power status of the United States spanning two centuries, may I recommend the book The Accidental Superpower.   One of the best (if a bit wonky) books I've read in the last 30 years.

    And reading back on this last page of this thread, I don't usually get my wish, but here I guess I did.
    The nationwide "red wave" failures, for the most part, were only with a half to six percent margins, so I'm still not really happy.  But, a lot can happen in the next two years.

    Actually when I get closer to the equator it gets warmer. The farther away it gets colder. Pretty much how its always worked. There are times the earth has changed and we know forest have grown in places now covered in ice. The Sahara desert becomes lush and green every 20,000 years. Much of North America was under ice at one point. So what? Do you think we need to alter the temps so the ice comes back across much of our country? 

    The funny part is how stupid you libs are to think electric cars are the answer. In fact they will do more damage than oil. Look up how much it takes to make one battery.
    I straddled the equator in Quito, Ecuador a couple weeks back, it was about 65F.  Give or take a few degrees, that is the temp at that location year around.  I contrast that with the temps back home here in Nebraska over the course of the year.  Once more your use of generalizations (and stereotypes) is shown to be a fallacy.  When will they ever learn?

    Related-I have not read anything about the potential impact of the major blizzard/snowfall that high the Sierra Nevada area last week.
