Nice new toys. That knife is samurai sharp….ask me how I knowRyanStl said:I made a run to Eureka, MO to get some stuff from stlcharcoal.
Of course I picked up some bags of Rockwood, but I finally converted over to Kich Ash cans. Plus upgraded my crappy charcoal basket that came with my XL when I bought used with a Kick Ash basket.
I also treated my self to a Shun brisket knife. Can't wait to try it out.
Everything is so shiny.

Why do bakers use unsalted butter, then add salt? Is it for consistency, control, or some other reason?ColbyLang said:10,000# unsalted butter and 42,000# granulated sugar. Here we goI would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Flavor control more than anything in this application. Hawaiian style product. Heavy on butter, heavy on sugar. Need to use unsalted to make sure the sweet profile comes thru without hurting your teeth. Unsalted butter also has a sweeter flavorOzzie_Isaac said:

How does bulk butter come packaged?ColbyLang said:Negative. SummerMaid Creamery. Buy direct. Commodity pricing albeit delivered. -
55# solid cube. Frozen. We leave about 2500# out at a time. If you use it within a week you’re good. Otherwise it goes into our walk in cooler or freezer

Haven't been able to buy this in my local Publix for quite some time so I drove to Total Wine after getting my new US Government approved driver's license. Might have gone a little overboard.

@SamIAm2 - by my ciphering that's only 24 beers-guess you have a reload planned for the weekend?

BTW- I do enjoy Shiner.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
@lousub - Back in the day when I was hanging around/stationed with underwater sailors your assumption would be correct. One memory I do have of those times is being invited to dine with an E-9 and his spouse at his PAFB enlisted housing on the beach side. Traveling down the hallway to the head was interesting. Floor to ceiling cases of beer on one side of the hallway almost the entire length.lousubcap said:@SamIAm2 - by my ciphering that's only 24 beers-guess you have a reload planned for the weekend?

However having gotten separated from those influences my consumption has returned to the occasional more normal level.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

Impressive one handed rig-by chance @MediumRarely "left handed?" Asking as I am one and we tend to look for the others in the great minority.
For the record somewhere less than 13% of the population is left handed. I am a card carrying hard core left hander. Neither parents were lefties. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. We thought the way things are trending it may be time to open the food pantry and gauge interest. So off to Ol Walmart.
This is the first trip.

No pics, but I happened to walk into a liquor store today, only to find that all kinds of brown water were on sale. $10-$30 markdowns. Stocked up. The dude was excited about the $1500 tab.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
