When we moved from Texas the Nevada, driving through Phoenix of all places, I had a rock fly out of dump truck and hit the windshield in the same spot of my Silverado. Nearly identical crack. Still on that windshield six years later.fishlessman said:Legume said:Rear window?

Double check your insurance that it's not covered. We've gone through 3-4 windshields and it has always been covered. Never had to pay out of pocket or use any deductible. I thought most insurance companies cover the windshield 100%.

You do have to consider the cost of losing your no claim status. Plus I know that Allstate has a deductible. The local glass company has two rates, a larger one if they have to deal with the insurance company and a smaller one if they don’t.WeberWho said:fishlessman said:Legume said:Rear window?

massachusetts has the worst inspections for vehicles out there, a chip bigger than a quarter wont pass inspection. no sticker for inspection is a moving violation and you get charged for it up to 7 years in a row on insurance after paying the ticket. dont ask me how i know.... well ive been caught twice and escaped once hiding in a wedding parking lot with the wedding folk watching on.....even had a cruiser a year back hiding behind a dumpster waiting for me to move the truck...during the height of covid no less....for an expired sticker. it will happen again, i seem to be pretty stubborn with this

im treated pretty well, good friend from high school owns the local shop. just left there, problem right now is finding the windshield right now with the heater. said he wouldnt do the patch on it with the heated glass, not worth it. not sure the no claim status applies here for windshields, its never affected rates before.

I'm no lawn/garden expert but Roundup gets it done. A true pleasure to work with. Delivers every application. I have enough for the early Spring kill 'em cycle before having to roll into the high end restock.
@JohnInCarolina as you are well aware, that cost has been figured in for a while. I won't speculate about this incredible increase.

Put shelves in at the shop. Sprayed the inside of the cabinets with some leftover paint. Minimum quality standards as dictated by the female unit do not exist at the shop.

i asked about that and its bigger than recommended, it goes thru the heat element and its chipped inside and out plus the crack next to it is close enough to the edge that it will likely travel. was having problems with the passenger side heated glass not working in some spots anyways.

people are nuts. we had a salesman from one of our vendors show up with a patch on his temple several years ago. was driving, felt pain, pulled over and found blood dripping down his face. an officer showed up and told him he had been shot. luckiest day in his life, the bullet hit the side temple of his glasses, then slide between skin and skull a bit and stopped. they found a guy shooting at a turtle in a small pond towards the highway

That is bonkers! Shooting turtles, what a idiot. I think there should be a basic intelligence test and gun handling safety course required for gun owners. I grew up around guns and see them as just another tool, but one that requires a basic ability to asses consequences for your actions.alaskanassasin said:

NYT recipeText version in case anyone wants to save it their recipes app:Oven-Roasted Chicken Shawarma
Cook Time: 45 minutes Servings: Yield 4 to 6 servings Source: cooking.nytimes.com
INGREDIENTS
2 lemons, juiced
½ cup plus 1 tablespoon olive oil
6 cloves garlic, peeled, smashed and minced
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons paprika
½ teaspoon turmeric
A pinch ground cinnamon
Red pepper flakes, to taste
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 large red onion, peeled and quartered
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
DESCRIPTION
Here is a recipe for an oven-roasted version of the classic street-side flavor bomb usually cooked on a rotisserie. It is perfect for an evening with family and friends. Serve with pita and tahini, chopped cucumbers and tomatoes, some olives, chopped parsley, some feta, fried eggplant, hummus swirled with harissa, rice or rice pilaf. You can make the white sauce that traditionally accompanies it by cutting plain yogurt with mayonnaise and lemon juice, and flecking it with garlic. For a red to offset it, simmer ketchup with red pepper flakes and a hit of red-wine vinegar until it goes syrupy and thick, or just use your favorite hot sauce instead.DIRECTIONS
Prepare a marinade for the chicken. Combine the lemon juice, 1/2 cup olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon and red pepper flakes in a large bowl, then whisk to combine. Add the chicken and toss well to coat. Cover and store in refrigerator for at least 1 hour and up to 12 hours.
When ready to cook, heat oven to 425 degrees. Use the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to grease a rimmed sheet pan. Add the quartered onion to the chicken and marinade, and toss once to combine. Remove the chicken and onion from the marinade, and place on the pan, spreading everything evenly across it.
Put the chicken in the oven and roast until it is browned, crisp at the edges and cooked through, about 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from the oven, allow to rest 2 minutes, then slice into bits. (To make the chicken even more crisp, set a large pan over high heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil to the pan, then the sliced chicken, and sauté until everything curls tight in the heat.) Scatter the parsley over the top and serve with tomatoes, cucumbers, pita, white sauce, hot sauce, olives, fried eggplant, feta, rice — really anything you desire.

Guns don't kill people, books do (....apparently as they are being banned left and right from schools all over the country).

When I was a kid riding home on the bus one day a high school kid shot the window out of our bus right behind the drivers head with a pellet gun. I don't remember what happened but I do know that kid did not make it very far in life.
