The 12 yr Van Winkle is "Van Winkle Special Reserve, Lot "B" most likely. Bottled by the OldVanWinkle Corp.
Around 10 years or so ago you could find that on the shelf around 8-9 months of the year. Now the secondary market wants $4-500 for that. FWIW-

I should add she has a lot of junk related to her job she has to haul around too, so a 3rd row seat w/cargo space is a must.

I like the look of the new Tahoe but I get a lot of "I'll never buy another GMC again" from people when I bring it up, but I'm usually skeptical of vehicle horror stories. I've been a longtime happy F150 owner so I was leaning towards the Expedition.

I really don't feel comfortable buying anything during this weird electric vehicle transition period, but we can't wait too much longer and I'd like to take advantage of the obnoxiously high trade-in prices on used vehicles.

That was after he bought a 10yr and 12yr from our local grocery store. Goes to Costco on the way home for a few things. Goes thru the liquor department and there it was in the case. A unicorn in the wild

The Gx460 looks super nice. Does it feel narrow though? She drove a 4Runner for years and loved it but it was too narrow and cramped.

Talk about "better to be lucky than good". Live and in colour right there.
I need to put SWMBO on the trail as she is the weekly Costco shopper but I doubt that will ever surface around here.
BTW- granted I have never had the PVW 23 yo (closest was owning a bottle of 20 yo purchased at regular retail around 10 years ago) but I don't know of anything in a bottle worth 4 large. Just an opinion.

I have both a 4runner and the GX. The GX is bigger inside. I will say though that the GX with the 3rd row seats up has virtually no cargo space. If they are down it's about equal in cargo room as my 4runner. If you need 3 full rows with ample cargo space I don't know of any SUV that provides that even a Suburban has very little cargo space with the 3rd row seats up.

For multiple reasons @ColbyLang I think you need to move. The country will welcome you, 2-3 acre lot, neighbors you never meet and a garage with proper height.

Years ago when we were in your shoes (2 young kids, gymnastics), we looked at minivans. Even came close to buying an Odyssey. In the end my wife just couldn't bring herself to get a minivan (it was set to be mostly her car).

Instead we got a Toyota Highlander. I don't think it is as big as the Expedition or Tahoe. It's worked plenty well for hauling both kids and gear around. We've had it for about 10 years now, and it has well over 130k miles on it. No problems with it outside of routine maintenance.

Just thought I'd throw that out there. It's another option.

We’ve had both minivan and expedition when the kids were in the house and were happy with both for different reasons. Minivan was far better for car seats.

Kids are long gone, but wife wanted three rows for family visiting. We got her a Honda Pilot a few years ago. Very comfortable, AWD, captains chairs second row and plenty of storage with third row down, plenty roomy for adults in third row when up. They call it an SUV, but it’s not the stout American truck based SUV. It’s also not a minivan, better clearance, handling, etc. than a minivan.

My buddy bought this chamber sealer from Walmart on my recommendation. Works great so far. He’s been using mine up until now. He’s my friend that takes my boat out once or twice a week. I have unlimited fish from the relationship.

@Ozzie_Isaac The market is that someone will sell anything for any amount and to be a market, someone will buy. I have been down that replacement road twice, I have the records of what I now own (don't care to look it up) and the surgeries resulted in noticeable range of motion improvements.
I did ask the surgeons ( 18 months apart) if I could retain a piece of the femur. Both cited legalese as to "no chance."
At least when I come out of the oven on the other end the metal pieces will be available for sale by my kids. So that's a bonus.

A very good friend of mine almost died in a motorcycle accident on Father's Day. His leg has $60k worth of rods and pins and stuff in it. It isn't healing right, so they may have to yank it all out, break out the hacksaw and get to work rejiggering his leg. I told him he should use the parts to make a suicide shift for his new bike. That got me to wondering what the parts go for on the secondary market. Pretty awful depreciation if you ask me, or he got screwed on his purchase.

Second, I'm also sure they can't reuse the hardware for the original purpose, which drops it from "medical hardware" to "souvenir", hence the depreciation.

I don't imagine the titanium part is the expensive part. My wifes was put in in a specialty hospital on the upper east side of Manhattan by an extremely skilled surgeon. As they say in the trades, "materials are the cheap part".

I picked the fight nearly 2 years ago. The then administrator of planning and zoning agreed with us. Cease and desist on the property in question. They file an appeal. Incoming new mayor relieves p&z director of her job, appoints a new one that is tied directly to the local real estate market. All of a sudden, there’s an amendment to the development code allowing STRs.

Fast forward 2 years of my life, 3 lawsuits, 9 different meetings in city hall and pending litigation against the city….the amendment is back on the table, vague as all get out. Tonight’s meeting was town hall style, us versus them. How dare I have an expected level of property rights on the most expensive asset I own? I sat back and listened to STR owners say how great it was for tourism yadda yadda yadda….I then pointed out as a business owner (which they all are) how many aspects of what they were doing is illegal. Had data backing up what other cities in Louisiana are doing to combat/regulate STRs. Basically echoing what we’ve been arguing for the last 2 years.

I know Ford had some major issues with their 5.3 that was in their Expedition/F-150. Hopefully they have turned things around.

I've been subscribed to the Car Wizard for years. He does several videos on what vehicles to avoid due to the costly repairs he sees. Most are GM and Chrysler products. His recommendation is always buck up for a used Toyota.

Been down that road and landed with an Expedition. Great soccer hauler, especially if they end up with the traveling team deal. She wanted the SUV and a minivan was never on the radar. Early on only around 5-7K miles/year, then 12-15K/yr for about a 4 year run. Around 80% of that mileage was kid sport related. FWIW-

I never understood soccer mom equating to need for large SUV and you mention soccer hauler. Seems like except basketball, soccer requires about the least amount of gear
