Inflation hits

Wally World had 16 pound RO for $10.00 and then it went up. Thirty pound was $15.00 and then went to $18.00 today $39.95. Sixteen pounder was about $14.00 I think. About the same as Kroger and Publix. I just don't know if I'll be able to afford to keep cooking on my $800.00 cooker.

I just want to know why the bag price for 3 bags of rockwood is more than bag price for 2 bags.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Solution- don't shop at WW. Support independent small businesses. Just buy the 2 or 4 bag pack of Rockwood to get top shelf charcoal. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Cant really use the 3-bag boxes to certain zones anymore because of the additional handling charges, so it has to go in two boxes....and it take more cardboard, tape, and labor to box 3 bags than it does 2 and 4 bags (on a per bag basis.) 3 bags just isn't the sweet spot anymore like it used to be.Legume said:I just want to know why the bag price for 3 bags of rockwood is more than bag price for 2 bags.

An interesting anecdote, over Thanksgiving we had die hard Trump hating liberals over. They were gung-ho Biden supporters, so much so they broke off contact with the Trump supporters in the family and constantly bashed Trump, conservatives, and anyone not full in the Biden camp. Really approached only the way passionate 20 somethings can. I applauded their conviction. I was young once.
Well, at Thanksgiving they actually were angry at Biden and wished they hadn't voted for him. Said inflation, gas prices, and the economy is crushing them and they are hoping a change happens in 3 years. They were really worried about taxes too. Newly employed professionals, taxes suddenly have real meaning to them. They were also very worried about international events. Russia, North Korea, Iran, and China (Afghanistan did not bother them). These were Trump flag burning, trash talking Biden lovers. I just sat quietly and listened. It was very interesting.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

All kidding aside, it is the truth. I was honestly surprised. They didn't say they were Trump supporters by any stretch, but definitely not Biden supporters anymore. They were very concerned with inflation and gas prices. Their first 5% raise was less than inflation, so they were very aware that their buying power actually went down.JohnInCarolina said:sounds legit, not made up at all
I get annoyed at gas prices and inflation, but I am relatively insulated from the immediate impacts of those. I haven't changed my lifestyle. They have. They used to travel anywhere they can drive because they could afford too. Now they cannot. Their life has been directly and negatively impacted by world events. They blame Biden.
You do not have to believe it, but it is at your peril if you want Biden elected again next go around.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

👍, I found it interesting. I would prefer you think it is a joke, because it reinforces my own view that the Democrat establishment is disconnected from their base. The more disconnected they are, the better chance America has in the mid-terms and in 2024.JohnInCarolina said:

The younger voters are passionate, but that does not mean they are dumb. They know who the Democrat establishment works for. Look no further than the SALT roll-back. That doesn't help their base, it helps their big donors on either coast. By the way, that is the most expensive line item in Build Back Better. At least Republicans are honest about who they serve.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I think the made up part is that you sat and didn’t say anything.
We shouldn’t be electing presidents the age of Biden or Trump.
We shouldn’t fall in to the simplistic trap of thinking all credit/all blame falls on sitting president, or worse, we shouldn’t spread that when we know it isn’t that simple.

I am so glad that the Keystone pipeline got cancelled, I am sure that is helping keep gas prices down from where they should be.

I bought some Farmland bacon yesterday. $5.99 /lb. I was used to paying $3.99/lb, but was getting low in freezer. The new sale flyer came out today (Dillons/Kroeger), and it’s now on sale for $6.99/lb.
