So many reasons I don't post here any more.  "The sanctimony is strong here."

we have really been wondering what we all did to cause you to deprive us of your posts.

Please stop being sanctimonious. It causes people to not post here anymore and we wouldn't want that.

Let me enlighten you.  Most college professors today are off the chart liberals. They indoctrinate our children into the socialist mindset.  JIC's posts support this to a tee. Thank JIC and his comrades for our record gas prices, supply chain shortages thanks to the unions, and record inflation. Want a $15/hr minimum wage....ok.  Unfortunately it now buys less goods then when it was $12

Well I feel so much smarter now. Thank you for enlightening me. I’m guessing your kids are safe from the liberal indoctrination at Duke Engineering so thank god for that!

@JohnInCarolina That's even a reach for those who sit in the inner circle of (pick your) religion.  But someone's gotta do it!  Go forth and continue to do great things especially on this Hallowed Eve.

When was it $12?  Last I checked federal was and still is $7.25.  But you did hit on my favorite thing a bunch of liberal college professors sitting around a table at big oil HQ setting the prices right before they organized unions and set all prices in the market higher for inflation.  Damn universities are ruining our world.

Let me start with "I am old and I have a lawn."  Critical thinking is at a premium.  When the thinking takes a sabbatical (nice university term) and the media is focused on $$-their business model (no issues with that) then we get the drive to the LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) approach for eye ball on the screen. Sadly the basement is not in sight.
The downward spiral is accelerating and I do not see a way to stop this.
I have challenged the value of the 24/7 world wide news cycle since its inception for the very issues we are dealing with now.  In the early 1990's I called it the CNN Factor as the influence is exponentially more impactful than it merits.  Off soap-box.  Rant over.

Anyone watching the World Series?  Been a crazy early few innings.

They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That's against their interests. - George Carlin

Best game of the series so far. Both teams came out firing both barrels.

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

    Status- Standing by.

He watched first game on TV before being activated.

    I am so confused @stv8r...

    Is it JIC's fault?
    Or Biden's?
     Or Brandon's?
And why in the world would you blame @Focker?

I need to find a college where they won't "indoctrinate our children into the socialist mindset". Best option may be to not send the young 'un to college. Or maybe wait for Trump University to come back. Didn't Jerry Falwell have a university? Was it pure?

    So confused...

Ignorant people think that college is designed to make people liberal.

    no

college turns a person into a critical thinker.

And critical thinkers tend not to cling to superstition.

They tend not to cling to tradition solely for the sake of it.

They tend to be more intelligent, to question things, to think for themselves, and to look for information before forming an opinion

they tend to dismiss those people who tell them what they should believe.

These people end up having a truly liberal (wide, encompassing, expanding) view of things, and generally accept that things can be improved with a little application of effort and intelligent (critical) thought.

Educated people tend to be more liberal. Not because they are indoctrinated (see: conservatism and religion; fascism), but because they have been taught to think for themselves

a central tenet of conservatism today is to NOT question your leader. To NOT question religion. To NOT question anything that someone in authority tells you.

College, science, liberalism,… none of those things are threatened by being questioned. From within or without.

Your opinion of science does not have any impact on the scientific method.
