Yes it is. He has had it for a long time and used to be a big time hunter. It’s a vanity plate. I’m sure it’s probably state specific but is it possible to have a standard plate with 1 and then a different owner have a vanity plate with 1?

I would imagine it would have to be a vanity plate. A #1 license plate in New York sold for some crazy amount. I can't recall the specific amount but it was hundred of thousands if not into the millions and that was years and years ago. A #1 plate in Dubai went for tens of millions. 

Crazy that you saw a #1 plate in person. Like I mentioned above, that's way more crazy than the car itself. Cool.

Yes, the Morton location. The gentleman that owns the vehicle is the guy who started Fort Transfer. He sold it a couple years ago and made out very well.

Eurocharged, custom tune, on dyno. 91 stage 1, 94 stage 2, E30 stage 2 unoptimized timing, E30 stage 2 optimized timing.

I also did a dyno last year, before I moved to 94 stage 2 ... stock on 91 pump (but with my full bolt on intake and exhaust) made 375 hp at wheels.  We figure the larger intake and free flow exhaust added around 30 to 35 hp.  So we figure bare stock would be around 340 hp (wheels) for this car.  Compare that to the advertised crank hp of 405 ... I'm losing 16% from crank to wheels due to AWD. 

So that's how we figure 505 hp at wheels is just over 600 hp crank (add 16% loss back).  

Anyhow, the E30 tune increases power by 50% ... this car is a beast now given that power and torque. Looking to make high 10s at the strip on Friday (full weight).  I know there's much faster cars ... but that at least puts me in respectable territory.

APR tuned VW here, Stage 2.5..

Nothing like the TT but went from just over 2 to just over 3, swapping to the K04, ECU , and some bolt on's.

With your HP, drivetrain has got to be next....I would imagine

I've been told the 2.0 litre can generate over 5, but at severe cost to drivetrain components, which is one of the factors which stopped me from going down that rabbit hole

Weather dependent, try to enjoy at least monthly driving, Apr.-Oct.  I've taken it from 53k miles to 78k, but miles driven/year has gone down with time.  Top down is the preference, I'd say it's down 50% of the time.

*sad to see the third pedal largely disappearing.  

Much appreciate the info.  Glad you get it out and about as that would be a total waste under cover in a garage.  Hopefully climate change is not the down driver in miles/year    Go forth and enjoy even more.  
Edit: Given the vintage I'm guessing it can go quite a distance before you use a battery tender.  But no chance for the 6 months.

Always believed non-use can be the hardest use of a car, need to exercise the mechanicals.  😁   I do use a battery tender year around, along with a disconnect switch.  Only "off" draw is the analog clock (which does not work).  Takes but a couple minutes to swap in/out, so I do it.  Ancient tender and Optima Battery, both still going strong.   🙂

Well, the ancient Optima gave up the ghost today at 7+ years, 3 yr. warranty so not disappointed in it.  New one just installed and am back in business.

The Texas heat took a toll on my batteries, I almost always had some warranty claim when the failed.  When I started using these optimas, that problem went away for me.

@Botch - About the time that rig gets to market we will have flying cars  .

I ended up meeting one of my buddies through a friend. When first meeting my buddy I assumed he was from the Twin Cities. I had absolutely no indication otherwise. It turns out he is from a small town of 11 people in South Dakota. He grew up on a farm with his dad running a mechanic shop on the side. I wasn't totally convinced he came from the country. I was born and raised in the city and I swear he could have been more of a city slicker than I was. It must have been a few weeks or a month later after first meeting my buddy that a group of us leave his apartment and get into our vehicles. I see my buddy who I've got to know a little by this point slide into that exact same car in the picture above. My jaw about hit the ground. The Monte Carlo SS had to be 20 something years old at this point and is mint. I couldn't believe it. It made no sense. It's a perfect farm kid vehicle but it doesn't match him or his personality whatsoever. I could have given my buddy 5 minutes to walk around the vehicle and I'm not convinced he'd be able to tell me where the engine is located. Any last lingering farm dust on him was blown away  when he traded out the Monte Carlo SS for a cranberry Pontiac Grand Prix sedan. 

I've been back to his homestead farm a couple different times now. He did somehow manage to grow up in the middle of nowhere on a farm. I've even seen his Monte Carlo SS sitting in the pole shed under pounds of dust. A sad sight to see but that dust might be a better fit than my buddy.
