The goal was to install a sliding glass patio door today. Instead I'm cutting down the basement ceiling and chasing down rot. Thank you previous home owner for doing everything on this house wrong. It's been fun correcting all your mistakes...

@WeberWho that sucks. I worked construction when I was in college for a small contractor, I think ~30% of our work was fixing poorly attempted homeowner work and previous contractor work. We were usually fixing a surface or visible issue that was caused by other shady work. Always dirty work too.
-
Forms placed, set for grade, base on Ickes and graded, hoping they’ll pour concrete on Friday or Monday.
-
I had a gut feeling without seeing any evidence of rot that it was going to be an issue. I was hoping for the best but I knew better. When I woke up this morning I'm pretty sure I didn't say, "No need to go outside and check the weather, I'll just look up through the basement ceiling and check the clouds".FarmingPhD said:@WeberWho that sucks. Hopefully we can get it cut out and patched tomorrow. Than eventually get back to what we started on Friday. Fun times!

Rented a cabin as a last ditch effort at a family trip this year. Selling point was views of the valley and the lake. Turns out there must be a neighbor argument, because we showed up to a cabin with a view of a 12 foot fence directly behind it. The fence is only behind this cabin. Pretty pissed off at the moment.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Murgh Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken):

I've never heard of this before, never had it, but it looked good in Cook's Illustrated. Boneless thighs were brined then dipped in greek yogurt, grilled on the Egg, and cut up. Added to a sauce of onion, garlic, serrano, ginger, garam masala, cumin, coriander, pepper in a tomato/heavy cream/butter base. Serve on rice. Also grilled an ear of way-past-its-prime sweetcorn and (not shown) a salad of fresh tomato, jicama, edible crayons and lime juice.
This was... okay. For all the spices, it sure was flavorless (or maybe I got the 'rona). Think the heavy cream may have muted everything."Hallelujah, Noel, be it Heaven or Hell,

You need better Indian food recipes, shouldn't be flavourless.Botch said:Murgh Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken):

Just finished putting together a decent workbench from Lowes. Bought it for cheaper than I could have built it.

Relaxing after a rough few days. Found it hard to bite my tongue with one owner ..and truth be told probably didn't do it well enough as gave a couple of opinions.
..Pet had a massive heat stroke (owner's fault)...transferred in from his regular vet to our critical care center..Owner was trying to place blame on the reg vet if dog died....no it's not because he was locked in a car for 7 hours at all

After posting a link to the Jacques Pepin deboned chix video I decided to give it another go after a good 18 months plus hiatus. Painful (no bleeding) to get there but a fun ride:

And a weak money shot but it tasted great.
Thanks for looking!

Time to replace the KAB. Just got a shiny new one and dropped it in tonight. This one served well in less than hospitable conditions.

Give me a 1Ton dually any day. Until I can haul 20,000 lbs for 350 miles between fueling, and refuel in 15 minutes, I'm out.Gulfcoastguy said:

Not for much longer. Electric vehicles are the way of the future. They’re just better products. That’s why all the leading manufacturers are moving in that direction.Ozzie_Isaac said:
