Nothing fancy, but one side for liquor and the other for aging good beers.

and never the 'twain shall meet.  Liquor before beer, have no fear. Beer before liquor, never sicker.  Or is it the other way around?  I could never remember.

Well, the other way around doesn’t rhyme very well so I’d say you got it right. 😂

Yep.  I think we have a winner. I probably have one of the larger wine collections here but my liquor collection is nothing special.  I'll try to post pics of it later.  The really good stuff doesn't tend to last very long - so my current collection is mostly stuff I've chosen not to drink - with a couple of exceptions.

This seems like as good a place as any to drop this.  Last night I started watching this documentary about bourbon called "Neat" that is streaming on Hulu.  So far it's pretty good!  Here's a trailer:

I've been meaning to watch this.  Amazon has one about scotch that was pretty good.  They actually have several "documentaries" about different kinds of hooch.

Yeah I started to watch the one on gin but had trouble getting into it.  I just found it a little too dry.

The advantage of having a fully stocked liquor cabinet is that it's a lot harder for others to see how quickly some of it is being consumed...

Nice stash. What’s up with the box wine though? You normally don’t see Weller and Black Box together.

Thanks @Legume, I have to confess that I don’t like it as much as I hoped I would. It’s good, but based on reviews of some friends I expected it to “wow” me.

I rotate a few on the counter depending on what we/friends (in normal times) are drinking and the rest go into the cabinet. The pull out shelves are very helpful to see what you have hiding.

The Fever Tree is good stuff, unfortunately only reserved for special occasions around here.
Agreed!  I discovered it recently because my favourite brand is no longer being produced.  Why only for special occasions?  Costco sells it here for 1.40$CDN per bottle so that’s like 1$US.

My eye is drawn to the Eagle Rare when it is present.
Granted the scenery may have changed in south Texas but eleven months ago I was able to find Eagle Rare (at the "normal price point") in Austin, on the shelf.  Happy Hunting!  (BTW- that has not happened here for a few years.)
And I am so thankful that you did!

  • I was reasonably stocked before the madness began.. but it seems harder and harder to find Eagle Rare, Blanton's and any variety of Weller.

I'll have to look for it at Costco. It's like $3.50 (U.S.) for a 16.9-ounce bottle of tonic and $5.50 for the little 4-packs at the grocery I usually shop at, compared to Seagrams or Canada Dry, which is almost also on sale for $1 per liter. I'll pay twice as much for Rockwood as my every day charcoal, but I have to draw the line somewhere on mixers (-:

Mighht not be the liquor cabinet, but I think you may get the idea.

One of our most favorite Bourbon and Wine bars, just a couple blocks from my house, reached out to their customers for corks to do some decorative enhancements to their business.

We mentioned we had some corks, should they be interested. They were.

These are those we have been collecting for a couple of years, as we pull a cork and toss it into an old caly pot and emptied whenever it was full into these boxes

Living in Kentucky, bourbon is no big deal to keep, as I would think perhaps keeping pineapple in Hawaii. It is a cherished spirit no doubt, but the incredible offering, every liquor retailer has makes it easy to buy a fabulous bourbon, finish it and search for the next great gem.

Right now we are into Harper's. For folks in Kentucky it is likely more sought after than PVW. Made and sold prior to prohibition, it became a very valuable export because it could not be sold here, and remained an export only, up until about 20 years ago, when it has been re-released in the USA on an extremely limited basis.

My Beautiful Wife bought me a bottle for my birthday, and we have enjoyed it immensely. It is to the point, the finest sipping bourbon I have tasted. Add a splash of spring water and it really opens up.

Dare I ask what the plastic on the bar stool is for? The last I had heard, there were no known cases of COVID being anally transmitted.
