OT-What are you buying right now?

Heading out shortly to pick up a folding 2 ton shop crane to use when my milling machine arrives in a week or so. Will need it to get the mill out from the back of my truck (freight company only has semi's and they won't get to where I am :(). Just going to get it form HF since it only needs to really work a few times. I could have gone with the 1 ton, but the reach of the 2 ton will be more helpful with the shift. Since the mill crate is 46" tall and the bed of my truck is 36" off the ground, the little more boom height will be a good thing. I'll get a lift sling (6' long 6400# rated) to use with it. Depending on a few other things, I might decide to transfer my anvil (about 150#) from the stand I made to a stump (or platform made from 4x4 timbers). I could then use the crane to move it out to the driveway for use and back again. I wouldn't want to roll that around since it would be top heavy. Having that fall over would SUCK. 

BTW, the mill (unboxed) weight is 646#. So not going to try to lift it with just people. Since the footprint of it would only allow maybe four people to grab it, that's a bit much to safely move (IMO). Especially since I don't have any friends that can lift 300#+ by themselves. 

I have the R8 collets coming for the mill and will probably be ordering the set of DRO's in the next couple of weeks (or less). Probably a week or so after the mill arrives. Since I'll probably need some information that I can only get once the mill is here. Going with a set from DRO Pro's (http://dropros.com/). I have a friend with a set from them and he loves them.

@smokingal    Wow! Just Wow!  Da-n sister, that is the "go big or go home brisket buy" of my lifetime to date. 

If you can drop that chunk of change on the brisket, I would bet you could find enough loose change to at least buy an XLBGE to go along

@lousubcap No more large (or medium, for that matter) purchases for the year.  I'm soooo done after this one.  Should be worth it, though.

I don't buy beer. I keep thinking about brewing a batch, but other things keep getting in the way. Since the HA I've not really been drinking. I'll have a glass of wine from time to time, but that's about it. I need to get together a list of the brewing gear I won't be using and see about selling it.

I did get the shop crane plus 6' sling (rated for 6400#) today. Got it all together too. That was a bit of a pain in the ass due to how the wheels attach. Plus putting it together along wasn't as much fun. But, it's assembled and ready for when the mill arrives.

@nolaegghead That mill needs some TLC. Is it even functional?

Buying an AR is just not cost effective for Canadians, with a 35% exchange rate and Customs duties and taxes. I paid $210 CDN (~ $135 US) for the two piece multi level rack and the conveggtor basket.  

I feel your pain re: trying to buy CGS from Canada. When I had looked into it a few years back, it was ridiculously pricey. 

Surprised the Eggspander was only $210.

The Oral MaxilloFacial Surgeon (they can charge more) pronounced my implant stud good to go, so today my regular dentist (he only sends his kids to Harvard) went in with his ratcheting wrench (not kidding), removed the temp tooth spacer, screwed on a taller, calibrated post, tightened with his Snap-On torque wrench, then mixed up a pail of blue, bubble-gum scented Bondo, ordered me to "Open", and poured it into my face.
"Breathe thru your nose for ten minutes, and don't move!"
"gleh burh"  ("Yes Sir", thru Bondo)

Finally he squished a toilet plunger against my face, levered back, and pulled the Blue Bondo Block out of Botch's Blabberhole (I'm fairly creative, but I can NOT spell the sound that it made coming out).  
The cute hygeinist hyjeanis assistant handed me a wet paper towel to clean my own face off, she was laughing too hard.  beotch.  
The blue Bondo mold will now be sent to some kid in a hut in India, who will expertly carve a new tooth to fit me out of whalebone, or coconut shell or something; should have it by the end of the month!  
 
This has been a miserable 4 or 5 years.  Between several root canals, two abscesses, two re-done root canals, three extractions, two implants, and a bridge that has come loose twice, I've only been able to chew with my whole mouth for, well, not for 4 or 5 years.  Hopefully by the end of this month I will, and won't have any more problems for a while.  Oof-dah.  

I bought a tooth implant this past spring. I only wish that they had been available 25 years ago, I could have avoided a bridge on the other side. Darn my lousy teeth genes. Oh my dentist has some robot crown making machine in his office but with an implant I had to wait 4 months for the bone graft to take.

my croatian dentist scares the crap out of me but atleast has 3d imaging scanner, it does the full uppers and bottoms in about 5 minutes then sends the info out to 3d print the molds getting a bite guard, maybe i scare her too.

ordering some new deceptive imitation devices for mister greenhead this year...hoping he'll get the memo to show up....

Picked up a used Jenn-air gasser that's been converted to burn Freedom Gas(tm).   Since I have a Freedom Pipe run out to the deck already, should be pretty easy to hook up.  

$70 plus my old gasser.
