Dropped William off at his new school today. This is a specialist independent school for severely autistic pupils, he will be resident there during term time for the next 3 years. It was a bit of a wrench leaving him there, we've looked after him for 15 years and our lives have revolved around his requirements. It's going to be strange at home tonight.

Sorry to hear about this but it truly will be a good thing for him. Good luck.

@NC_Egghead my daughter is at ECU right now and the little genius and her buddies are going to ride out Florence.  Prior to the storm shifting away/south, I sent her a text asking for her boyfriend's parents cells "in case we needed help identifying your dead bodies."  She just laughed. Little princess has been warned that she will be living on an inaccessible island for a good week or so.  (For non-ECU folks, Greenville, NC is extremely prone to floods on a good day).

The proverbial calm before the storm. Looks like the track has changed south of here which means storm surge. This view is the ICW in the foreground, looking out into Bogue Sound, one of the few cuts out to the Atlantic. Statute mile 227 on the ICW.

Beautiful shot. I wish you nothing but the best on this one. Stay safe....assume you are back (or headed back) to Charlotte and higher ground?
Yes sir, just got back a little while ago. Thanks!

I can understand your concern My son went there; just graduated in Decamber. Greenville/ECU doesn’t do to well with hurricane moisture, especially the college hill area. If she’s in off campus housing, she should be better off. With the new track, they shouldn’t get as much rain as originally expected. I wish her well. Could be worse; some friends of ours have a son at UNC Wilmington. They cancelled everything Monday afternoon, told everybody to get the F out. Later that day she saw an Instagram post of him surfing.

@Eoin  All the best to you, William, and your entire family.

My daughter just turned 16, and her team recommended long term inpatient care.  While searching for a facility, it was gut wrenching, so I can imagine how tough that was.  In my daughter's case, there wasn't anything suitable unless I was able to go out of pocket for 10k / month.

@Eoin- As I have said for a few decades, all you can give your children are love, time, values and education.  You have obviously lived those to the fullest.  That said I wish you and your family all the very best going forward.  You have done the due diligence, rest assured with that.
