    i wanna say it was hurricane bob, but it could have been earlier. local paper had a series of shots of a woman getting pulled off a sandbar by a wave and pulled out to sea never to be seen again. 5 pics flashed in series, she never dropped her beer. a cat 5 could break the record and please have a better beer, she held a budweiser in her hand

    Reading about those who are determined to stay and ignore the mandatory evacuation.

    Catagory 4, possibly catagory 5, with sustained 150mph winds, in an area projected to be larger than the entire state of North Carolina, once it hits the shore, and rain measured in feet, following the massive 10 to 20 feet ocean swells preceding the storm.

    "We are boarded up and we got a lot of supplies from WalMart. We ready."

    Should they survive, someone will have to risk their life to save them.

    Again, if you need a place to ride this out, our home is available.

    Hoping for the safety of all those in the path of this storm.

    The proverbial calm before the storm. Looks like the track has changed south of here which means storm surge. This view is the ICW in the foreground, looking out into Bogue Sound, one of the few cuts out to the Atlantic. Statute mile 227 on the ICW.
