One of the biggest issues is dealing with the ethanol fuel. It’s lower boiling point makes the fuel delivery system critical. In the middle of summer, I can watch the fuel bubble in the line filter when the car isn’t running. We can chat offline when you get closer and I can walk you through everything I did to get mine running like it were fuel injected. It’ll save you a lot of aggravation.tarheelmatt said:
Will probably not go with FI as I have a complete motor/carb/trans already.fishlessman said:
thats what i would do, i would go electronic ignition, fuel injection etc but many like original. just trying to drive a truck with a three foot diameter steering wheel is a tough sell for metarheelmatt said:
@fishlessman , the plan right now is to put some discs on the front. Nothing too crazy. They sell C10 kits pretty reasonable, from what I've seen and heard.fishlessman said:
nice project. my original work fleet was a 67 and 70 chevy weld trucks and a 72 ramp. still have the 70 and 72. the 60's trucks were great looking trucks, the 70's not so good looking. upgraded the 72 with a f550 last year but decided to keep the old ramp anyways, dad bought that one around 75 and i like the setup better. are you going old school or updating brakes etc, if old school make sure you research which setups are more available, the drums on my 72 are impossible to find, they had maybe4 different setups that year.tarheelmatt said:Dropped my cab, doors, hood, and a few other items off at the sandblaster. The 65 project is running along well. Except for me dumping the bed on the dolly off the trailer and into the middle of the road while making to the sandblaster.

dont keep tabs on costs and labor hours, it will make you cry
we restored my uncles first car, a 56 tbird, it was in the shop over 4 years, atleast a 100,000 dollar manhours in that thing and i am under estimating that greatly
the steering wheel in the 56 bird we did is absurd, getting in and out of it is absurd, driving it is cool as hell
My dad had a local well known motor head build a 350 for the truck. Ran great at the time.
I have the motor at a guys place now to tear down, clean up, and put back together.
Though I'll probably sell the current three speed to at least go to a four speed. It was on the column, but was converted to floor at one time. -
Winter formulation - gasoline that they formulate to work in cold weather - has a very low boiling point - they typically add butane to the fuel.DoubleEgger said:

Tips to eliminate vapor lock - don't use winter formulation. Move fuel filter and pump away from heat sources, insulate your lines, heat shields from hot metal and fuel lines, recirculate your fuel with metal tubing on the return.
Ethanol or not, they will formulate the gasoline to a certain vapor pressure based on the time of year and the market (hot, cold, etc). Adding ethanol to gasoline ranks as one of the dumbest and most expensive laws made.

I doubt @DMW is in the full-up troll mode. Receipts for deductions have a threshold of $250/ one time deduction before required. Who knows??Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. All of what I said there is true. That doesn't mean I don't also from time to time make cash contributions. I almost never have cash on me anymore though.pgprescott said:
