You and I have too many grills, so covering them is challenging. Did you see my solution to keep this thing covered up above in this thread? Those covers are $29 at Costco and are fantastic quality. I plan to get a few more as I can cover up a few grills that stand next to each other on the patio.

Yeah, I saw where you parked it, a good solution.
Mine are kept in the garage, 2 Suncast mini sheds, 17 BS in the kitchen, and eggs under the eaves.
May put this on top of the 28 BS in the garage. Literally grab and grill.
Ordered the cover today because of water reports. Figured it would be nice to have at the campground as needed, overnight, and in tow.
Second batch of wings for the boy, Aldi lemon pepper rub pulsed in the coffee grinder, and hit them with the Misto evoo sprayer a couple of times. I can hear the skin crunch in the living room as he's stuffing his piehole in the kitchen. He crushed the whole plate.

Those look awesome

Stopped at a local walmart on my way home. They had 2 of the JRs. The box was twice as heavy as expected.
They also had 3 of the Blackstone 17".Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Thinking of getting this for my brother. How do you low and slow on it? do you need an indirect piece and if so where do you get it? I don't see anything on the char griller web site.

As for weight, at 35 lb, it's less than half the weight (MMax 76 lbs). It's 4 lbs lighter than the Mini. Easy to lug around, yet still feels substantial. Not tippy either, even with those spindly legs.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Got mine put together today. Liked it enough I figured I would get one for my dad for his b-day.
Seems solid- still $90 on amazon.

My comment on the weight was not negative. Not that weight equals quality but I was expecting it to be far lighter/cheaper feeling.lolCarolina Q said:

I can't be suckered by pure pressure so I will say there is still at least one left on the shelf. I did pick up a nice pair of the king Kooker welder gloves for half off as well as a couple of oil funnels for my fryer.
I passed on the Blackstone as I got the good deal on the 22" but it was still tempting for some reason.
Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
My local Walmart had three yesterday, all marked down to $74. Now they only have two.
Beautiful and lovely Villa Rica, Georgia -
I got confirmation that my jr smokin stone shipped today.

I figured chargriller is going to have a run on these. -
@caliking are you getting in on all these great deals. Ha HaThank you,DarianGalveston Texas

I saw the gloves too, the lining felt weaker than the welding gloves I use when I had one on.....shockingly, I put them down.Photo Egg said:

Just thought I could get $7 worth of use out of them but might be pushing them back to yard duty.lolThank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I'm going to be kind of a d*ck here... if you get 25mpg and gas costs $2.50 then it costs you 10¢ per mile to drive. Two hours driving is about 100 miles or ... $10 in gas?milesvdustin said:I just drove an hour one way to get one at $74. Also got a stainless paddle for $2.50. They have the 17" blackstone for $47. Tempted, but not that tempted. Im gonna go checkout and drive the hour home.$74 + $10 = $84 + your time. You saved yourself $7, or $3.50 an hour.Yeah, I'm being a d*ck, sorry.Indianapolis, IN
BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.

Mine arrived (via Amazon) yesterday. Was originally going to be 2-5 weeks, then they said delivery this Friday but on Sunday the tracking data said Monday.
I agree it felt heavier than I imagined but that's probably because in my mind I imagine I'm forty years younger and still strong.
Still, it's a lot easier to pick up and move around than my KJ Jr.
Only problem in assembly was that one of the nutserts for the hinge flange was loose so it can't really be snugged up but it doesn't appear to be a fatal flaw.
Glad to see that CharGriller started making these again after a few years absence. I'm curious if the clearance sales prices means they weren't selling well and production will likely cease again or if it is just a case of moving inventory near the "end of the season"?
Also ordered their stone and cover. Will probably store the Akorn out of the elements as these don't have a rep for lasting for more than a few years before they start rusting out.
Thinking I might also get the Weber grate mentioned up-thread as I've never cared for cast iron grates.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
Ordered one yesterday from Walmart & was suppose to be ready for pickup. I received email today they're canceling my order cause they don't know when they will have in stock so I ordered from Amazon. Placed another order from Walmart and it says processing so one way or another I will have a Little Red Akorn or two.Tyler, TX XL BGE 2016, KJ Classic 2019, MES, 18.5 WSM, Akorn Jr, 36"&17" Black Stone, Adj Rig, Woo, Grill Grates, SS Smokeware Cap, KAB, FB 300, Thermapen

Well my car gets 38mpg, and my next closest walmart had the grill for $148. No price match. The time from my close location to the farther one is 30 minutes each way, so only an hour total drive over what i would have driven (pass right by close walmart on the way to the other) and 40 miles in distance. (Not counting from my home to close walmart, i would have driven that anyways) so I used about 1.1 gallons at most in extra gas. Fuel is $2.05 right now.DieselkW said:

So I saved $74 on the grill - $2.25 for gas for a total savings of $71.75 for one hour of "work." I'll take that anyday.

Thanks for the heads up. Picked one up today.

Picked up my Akorn Jr at Walmart in Rockaway NJ Monday $74 ,they had two more that I saw .Was going to wait 2-5 weeks from Amazon when I saw Walmart Price ,Half hour to get to store and it was back home and assembled by 10:30 in the morning . Burned in by 11:30 AM. Put it together in about a half hour and figured out how to use my TipTop controller with it utilizing my extra Smokeware cap . Not pretty but works . More about function than form . Getting stone delivered Thurs. I have had the full sized Acorn from when they first came out (Bjs score, fully assembled with cover and stone $235) . Nice to have something other than Large Egg and big Acorn for those small cooks . Warms up real fast and uses little charcoal . Oh yeah ,price in store said $109 ,employee in patio dept. scanned it and told me it was definitely $74 .

Local Walmart has the Jr. for $74. And I just bought their last boxed large for $139. Bought it to give to a friend who has been coveting an Egg but has kids in college and general life keeping him from pulling the trigger.
At $139 I couldn't pass. He's been a good friend for 30+ years now and I know I'll end up eating many an excellent meal off of it. -
As an Amazon Prime customer, not only do I find their shipping lightning fast, but I've had a few purchases fall short of what I had expected and I have found that Amazon's arbitration has been more than fair. E.g.: I complained to a third party seller that one of two Yeti tumblers I purchased was slightly damaged. When I received no response from the third party, I complained to Amazon, who promptly refunded the full amount and allowed that I keep the tumblers.

I had an issue with a third party seller one time who simply did not ship the item. There were several purchasers who did not receive anything from this particular seller, so it was not an isolated thing. Amazon refunded the purchase price after I filed a simple claim.GrateEggspectations said:As an Amazon Prime customer, not only do I find their shipping lightning fast, but I've had a few purchases fall short of what I had expected and I have found that Amazon's arbitration has been more than fair. Nice gesture. I bought two of the Akorn Jrs, one for me, one as a gift. Someone is going to be extra happy and I am thinking I'll get a meal or two out of the gift as well.Vegas Eggus said:Local Walmart has the Jr. for $74. $147 on Walmart website today. The Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! *uck me. I pulled up the Walmart website and made the 1500 Market Place Blvd., Cumming GA Walmart my local store, and it showed the Akorn Jr. at $91 and then brickseek shows they have two in stock at $74, so if you are wanting one, they might still have them if you hurry.danv23 said:$147 on Walmart website today. -
I didn't even have an egg when I joined this forum a month ago. In those 4 weeks y'all have convinced me not only to buy and egg but a bunch of accessories for it, but I also have now bought this to qualm my addiction. I think I'm going to like it hereLarge & 36" Blackstone
