Tis a mystery but a couple fellows named Dunning and Kruger have described the effect it has on society.JohnInCarolina said:If you don't think human activity can change the climate, you're basically saying that CO2 isn't a greenhouse gas.
I don't know when we became so skeptical of expert opinion as a society...
Personally, I blame the internet...and Obama.
Seriously tho, I think that, historically, the masses have always had a distrust and misunderstanding of science.

Long story short, green house gasses aside, more generated energy cannot after a point be radiated away. We are slo cooking ourselves.

There are two levels of ozone. Good ozone is what CFC deteriorated over time, things are better, but not great. Lower level ozone, smog, is what we hope to diminish over the next couple of decades. It is not just cars and transportation that impacts LLO, it is bakeries, dry cleaners, paint facilities, livestock, farms, lawn mower, paper manufacturing facilities, fertilizer factories, etc.
O2 and O3 is formed by the break down of compounds containing C, H, N, and O in their evaporative state. The major culprit is Compounds with N and O. UV light breaks them apart to form lower level ozone. That acts as a greenhouse gas, keeping particulate contamination in the air as well as other gasses. This is the brown haze you see flying into cities.
Lower level Ozone is getting better, but by no means, is it anywhere close to being resolved.
For us to blame the use of hydrocarbons as the reason for our environment/air quality issues, is like blaming Rosie O'Donnell's spoon for making her fat.
It starts with you and I. I am not doing much.

Last time I studied "science", I learned the Earth has massive quantities of CO2 scrubbers... They are called plants. If you want to reduce CO2 emissions, stop breathing.

Yup. Based on power plant emissions we will need a lot of very big plants.onedbguru said:YukonRon said:Finding synthetic structures that will allow MOFS to absorb all wavelengths of light may be cost prohibitive, but this type of environmental engineering will be worth every penny. I hate to argue about something as divisive as climate change on a food forum, so let's talk about science we can all agree with, vaccines definitely cause autism. Right guys?

Science is exact. Except when it comes to cholesterol and eggs and margarine vs butter ... and ... and .... and ... They have flip-flopped how many times over just these two examples??? It the 70's we were facing an ice age by 2000. The oceans are rising = at a rate of currently ~ 2mm??? yeah, that's going to take a while. There is no polar bear crisis. The ice at the South Pole is growing at a huge rate. and the oceans are like a glass of water with ice cubes in it. as the ice melts, there is no change in the water line. And finally, when a cell divides, science says it is alive - except when it is a human baby. what unfathomable pinheadary.
-
A cell that has divided does not equal a baby or anything alive other than a bicellular organism. One up on an amoeba. Science provides insight via fact. Very simple.

Because it has begun dividing, is it not alive? it is either dead or alive.bgebrent said:A cell that has divided does not equal a baby or anything alive other than a bicellular organism. One up on an amoeba. Science provides insight via fact. Very simple.
Dead != dividing
dividing = life.

It's a progenitor of life. Adopt this life at two cells.onedbguru said:
