    So mitosis = Life?  Mice cells do that in the lab daily.  Should we shut down the labs?  Or enrich our knowledge.

    Science is exact. Except when it comes to cholesterol and eggs and margarine vs butter ... and ... and .... and ...  They have flip-flopped how many times over just these two examples??? It the 70's we were facing an ice age by 2000. The oceans are rising = at a rate of currently ~ 2mm??? yeah, that's going to take a while.  There is no polar bear crisis. The ice at the South Pole is growing at a huge rate. and the oceans are like a glass of water with ice cubes in it. as the ice melts, there is no change in the water line. And finally, when a cell divides, science says it is alive - except when it is a human baby. what unfathomable pinheadary.
    Just padding my post count cuz you make it easy.  And what college or post graduate degree do you have so as to lend any legitimacy to your claims?
    Your graduate degree is from...

    @bgebrent- given the continuous cell mitosis going on in the human body I would guess that a true cure for cancer is beyond reach.  All you need is one division to go south and away the cancer goes.  I don't pretend to have any formal education in this area but it sure seems like an elusive to impossible target to "cure" cancer.  Am I totally missing the mark here??

    I hate to argue about something as divisive as climate change on a food forum, so let's talk about science we can all agree with, vaccines definitely cause autism.  Right guys?

    This honestly reads like a stream-of-consciousness rant, except without any thought involved whatsoever.

    A cell that has divided does not equal a baby or anything alive other than a bicellular organism.  One up on an amoeba.  Science provides insight via fact.  Very simple.
    Because it has begun dividing, is it not alive? it is either dead or alive.
    Dead != dividing
    dividing = life.
    very simple
    It's a progenitor of life.  Adopt this life at two cells.
    I hate to say it, but that statement is the utmost in unfathomable pin-headary.
    By the time a most women even know they are pregnant - there is already a heartbeat (at ~3 weeks) and if left to continue to grow - it is and can only be a human baby. It won't be an amoeba, it won't be a fox, it won't be cheetah, it is human life. period.  Again it very simple. a cell, human or amoeba, whatever, as long as it is dividing, it is life. period. That is what fact-based science demands.  Sadly, the facts often get in the way of political and sociological fantasies.
