The Great Salado Wing Off

Options
I have tasted @Foghorn's datil pepper wings (and they're fantastic).  I have tasted @caliking's Gai Yang wings (and they are also fantastic).  I now see that @The Cen-Tex Smoker is getting in the game with his 'Murican Cooking Japanese wings (and they look great, but who knows..).

What we need is a flock of wings side-by-side, and we will see whose cuiwing reigns supreme.  I hereby announce "The Great Salado Wing Off".

When
The Friday night cooks' cook at Salado this spring

The Rules
  • Wings must be cooked ON SITE on a BGE (so keep your fancy sous vide at home), but can be marinaded in advance
  • Cooks must provide at least 24 tastes, and separated between drumette and forearm (who wants to do all that work?)
  • No garnishes, no plating.  Samples will be grabbed off a platter as they were intended
  • You provide your best wing, and (if you choose) ONE dipping sauce
  • Wings must be from a chicken (yes, I know my audience, and have no desire to eat bat wing)
  • I will be the final arbiter of the contest and select the judges (including the number of judges)
  • While I am a bit of a fire eater, cooks who choose to drown wings in Dave's Insanity Sauce or some other concoction will be (a) disqualified, (b) asked to eat the remaining wings themselves and then wipe their hands on their tender bits and/or (c) receive a nut punch from a designee of the judge*
  • I will provide a suitable award for Excellence in Wing Preparation

(trophy is illustrative)

GAME ON!

* Female competitors who go the Dave's Insanity Sauce route will receive a boob punch
(now only 16 stone)

@20stone -  that is the way to lay it out there.  No doubt the level of effort for Friday will impact the Saturday festivities.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I just want to say that @Jeremiah runs a first class wing competition. I would recommend him as an associate wing competition planner guy (if you are looking to leverage the learnings of fair and just competition. Maybe even have him in charge of the complicated wing algarythem that insures annonimity to the judges.

I'd be glad for the help. I'm just in it to induce all the s@&$ talking among the competitors.  I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting @Jeremiah, but if he give me a holla, we can get this thing organized.

Sweet.  I am hoping at least 10 folks will jump in, and we've already IDed 3 of them. Should be a riot.

I don't know about the rest. But as I've said before. @Foghorn 's wings are no joke. People have their work cut out for them. I probably should start practicing now.

Thanks for the shoutouts @20stone and @texaswig.  It's an honor to just be mentioned in this crowd.

There's about a 50/50 chance I can be there. If I make it I will bring my wing A game - with my storebought rub and mix of storebought sauces.

As judges taste my wings I will ply them with a taste of great beer. Any judge who doesn't vote for my wings can't have any more of my beer.

I'm pretty sure I just clinched a couple of votes.

    Two more rules:
    • Must be present to win - Many of us have had those fine datil pepper wings of yours, but reputation and memory is not enough.  If a few patients slip through the cracks so that you can go wing to wing with the Forum's best, so be it.  That is the price of glory.
    • Scoring will be anonymous - I don't want to stop you from plying me with Belgians, but I will not be swayed.

If we don't know who the judges are, how do we know that every judge got a chance to taste/score our wings?

I can be accused of a lot of things - bad taste, bad sense of humor, bad cooking (but less so since I joined this crazy crowd), but accusations of a rigged competition will not stand.

I'm not accusing you of rigging the competition.  I'm accusing you of not allowing me to rig the competition.

Not trying to toot my own horn but I make a mean Tofu hot wing in my Sharp - 1.1 Cu. Ft. Mid-Size Microwave.

Question: Will there be a wall outlet that can be used and will it be GFCI protected?

You left out being a princess.  It occurred to me that I will need to serve you a wing at a table with a well-padded chair and a white tablecloth and real china.  With some Belgian beer in a frosty chalice.

Although I have to admit that @PirateBill sounds like a real contender.
