Try to find "100% Unrefined Fax Seed Oil". It will be in a refrigerated cabinet if it is truly Unrefined. Usually you can find it in health food stores. It is not cheap but it should provide a long lasting seasoning.
I followed Blackstone's method and it did work OK. But I find that sometimes the season has softened a bit. Even after a few long high reheats to set it again.
After a lot of research on Cast Iron seasoning, seems the chemistry behind seasoning recommends Unrefined Flax Seed Oil.
Come Spring I plan on stripping my Blackstone and go back with "100% Unrefined Fax Seed Oil"

According to what many say, use very thin costs. Almost wipe it off completely. Take a read on this:DoubleEgger said:Went a picked up some unrefined flax seed oil. Thanks for the pro tip @Hotch

Lol, me too. Unrefined, cold pressed, 100%, stored in the fridge. This is serious business.DoubleEgger said:Went and picked up some unrefined flax seed oil. Thanks for the pro tip @HotchI would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Isn't that what this is? I saw all the RTIC threads and just figured it was.theyolksonyou said:Looking for an ice chest forum to join so I can bash knock off coolers. -
This forum is generally a money sink forum. Just when you think you have every conceivable toy a new one pops up.

@SGH can you post a side-by-side pic with a Yeti?

@Hotch what are your thoughts on the need to flax seed oil season the bottom side of the griddle?

30 minutes of wiping oil on while it is blazing hot, then let it cool once. Then another 30 minutes. So far I've used anout 4oz of oil.DoubleEgger said:How many coats is that @Ozzie_IsaacI would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Used my weed burner to heat up the edges because it doesn't heat evenly near the drip tray.

@DoubleEgger sorry, no. Too busy trying to everyone fed and in bed. Didn't eat until 8:45. Basically the same as I posted in a thread a few weeks ago, but I must say, my technique is improving. These were the best yet.
2oz of meat, blazing hot griddle(IR said 545 ish) drop it on and smash using a big turner and a second long handle spatula for leverage. Cook till it's starting to look like it's separating on top <1min I'd say. Flip with a razor blade scraper and put cheese on. Flip second patty on top. Pull in just a few seconds onto a butter toasted bun. = money
edit: blazing hot and ungreased is key -
