What I don't understand is how and who they decide to ban. Example- Love him or hate him, Nola is a huge contributor here. Probably more so than anyone else. It was his posts for the most part that inspired me to join the forum. Granted he went a little off of the deep end with that one post. But look at all the good that he has done. On the other hand, look at how long Mike Haucheritz got away with contributing nothing but vulgarity and obscenities. Everything he posted was just nasty. Yet it went on and on. The Man in a Mask did nothing but make threats and call folks names. He got thread after thread buffaloed with his antics. Including two of mine. He constantly called Stike and Mikee really ugly names. Some may argue that Stike brought it on himself, but in reality no one really deserves that. Again, it went unchecked. They are not the only two. There have been others pop in and do nothing but wreak constant havoc without contributing anything worth while. So with all of that said, I personally feel that Nola's ban was unjust. They should have just buffaloed the thread and called it good enough. The man has put on 2 brisket camps, attends numerous egg fests, and on top of that he can flat out cook. Why in the hell would you ban him when there are others still around that deserve to be banned. Just my thoughts my friends.
Well said Scottie!! I have been to both Brisket Camps, traveled from NC to NOLA. you yourself was at the first one and know firsthand how much time, money, thought, planning, and actual labor Carey and Bridget put into getting the event on its feet. BGE did not have anyone there representing their company, helping with finances, labor, or even as much as a coozie for advertisement. It would be interesting to know how many advertising dollars were generated for the BGE company at his expense. As stated, this man is very intelligent, a hell of a good cook, and will offer to help with any problem you encounter while using the BGE product. Ok, I didn't read the post but I have heard a little about what happened. I would guess there was a little to much alcohol involved. I bet you (and I'm speaking from experience here) there is not 1 mod that has not had a drink or two and said things that they shouldn't. I agree with you just delete the thread, send a warning, get over it, we are adults here, don't act like 3rd graders. And you are right, NOLA is a huge contributor to this forum, but most of all to the BGE community as a whole. Bring the Hippie back!

On these two points I'm inclined to concur. First that he is a hippy ;) and second, bring him back.

Anyone ever see a tv show where someone fakes their death and then goes to the funeral to hear how much everyone loves them once they are gone?

Y'all keep saying NOLA is brilliant.  Perhaps he decided to get banned on purpose just because he needed a lift and figured he could sit back for a bit and read all the nice stuff you are saying about him.

maybe he just wanted to share a hippie lesson with everyone and the message is to make sure everyone is appreciated once in a while.

maybe there never was a NOLA, maybe he is/was/shall be the 3 ghosts of the egg Christmas story.

The best of just picks out posts with a lot of likes or agrees.  I don't think the mods police it at all, given that every once in awhile a boobie gif will pop up there.

This thread being in "the best of" is strange on multiple levels...I guess that placement there is strictly algorithm-based.

I hadn't noticed that it had been buffaloed. Need to go find it and see what comments I missed.

Oh, now I get it @SGH. Since I didn't see the post, I was in the dark. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with his abilities and willingness to be helpful. I come from a long line of Marines and the offense of the Fu..k You title would have been lost on me, lol. I was in the second grade before I realized that GDMfingSOB wasn't a complete sentence? Ah, the value of education and punctuation. Seriously, he should come back. Who else is going to post Jazz pictures? I love that cat.

Didn't read what he wrote to get himself banned, but he was helpful and normally assuming.  Maybe they'll convert it to a time out.  It's a shame to lose him.

I hope my previous post didn't offend anyone and I don't get banned. I have two SRF briskets to cook and I need all the help I can get. I need @Nola, @SGH, and @YukonRon! Sometimes we all have a little too much "medicine". It shouldn't paint an entire picture. He has contributed much to this forum. Oh, and I still love Jazz.

Thanks, @SGH, number saved and I appreciate it. I am on old, white, gun toting Southern woman, but who knows what can happen on a forum, lol. Oh, by the way, I used to also be a hippie in the 60's. What's wrong with that? I was clean though.

Thanks @SGH, in my opinion, the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your property is to do it yourself. I've been around guns all of my life and never hurt anybody, but sometimes, that may not be the case these days. There are many home invasions going on in our state and we will not be one of them. Not for long anyway. "He picked the wrong house", lol. My brother was a cop and my sister was a cop before retiring, so this is not new to me. Oh, and bring back Nola!

@slovelad Free Nola stickers? I'm actually serious this time.
  • Nola is one of the friendliest, nicest, sharing, and good hearted guys ever. Please bring him back. I'm not very important but @nolaegghead has taught me lots about BBQ and stuff. But he is wrong about politics and religion. When it comes to topics of extreme importance he is wrong. But on matters of meat and smoke he knows his stuff.

noone, I agree 100% I don't see politics and religion the same as NOLA but, does that make me right or NOLA? I'm with you on the cooking, sharing expertise and knowledge. If you go to New Orleans his door is always open and you are made to feel welcome from him and Bridget. Like I said earlier, overlook, forgive and forget a mistake and move on...Bring back the Hippie!

@slovelad I have a huge, beat up, old Ford truck, and an old, hippie,Yakima storage pod on top, with a bunch of radical stickers all over it. I would be honored to post those for the support of NOLA. @Dredger - I promise to help in any way possible I can, let me know when and how, and is in!!!
@DoubleEgger - great idea, let's put this boat in the water! @SGH whatever I can do to help with the return of NOLA, let me know. @nolaegghead - if you are reading this, know that you are missed and we want you back. I found it ironic when I place your name, while in the EHF, and use spell check - it says "no replacements found" that is the truth! You can't be replaced!
i hope to all that is Holy, that this is a bad joke like The Beatles ran with when everyone thought Paul was dead.
